Recently, my favorites have been In time, truth or dare & dorian grey. I haven't watched your movies. I'll study that. For 7 psychopaths I think Farrell won't do better than phone booth.

Downloading (In time)..
As to farrell, this movie has a number of great actors & the story is soo good & funny, unlike his action flicks which I don't like.
The rarity of  recent entertaining action movies had me drawn to comedy.
+ there is nothing better than lmao to sleep after a long day at work.

For me In time really is the movie of the decade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAo19BkP1H0
Still, the CGI is a little weak sometimes. Before I chose equilibrium, it really is good too.

Equilibrium was great. It imagines the world minus an important component of life (emotions), a plot that's very similar to 1984.

There are also Fahrenheit 451, the world without books.
Children of Men depicts the world without any more child births.

These movies & any good stories similar are a must watch. Thank god our reality is a bit better.  :)

Naahh.. that's not for me. I like action movies with plenty of shooting, or horror movies with ghosts and stuff like that. Also, plenty of sex, violence and gore.  :)

If you've seen any good ones lately then your recommendations are appreciated.
I haven't seen a worthwhile horror/thriller/action movie these past few years with a few exceptions.
For this I've turned to a bunch of tv shows that compensate such as (The walking dead, game of thrones, spartacus, arrow, breaking bad, etc..).

Here's a quick question: when you guys download movies, do you watch them on your computer or on your TV? If you watch them on your TV, what method do you use? In my case if I want to see a video on the TV, you can right click the file and play on the TV, and it's all through LAN - there is no HDMI connection to the TV.

lately the best movie I've watched is probably dorian gray. I read its the unique novel of oscar wilde.
Recently I visited him to the pere lachaise. The glass barrier has been erected to withstand the riots of its fans. I would dream of having such a tomb, though Im wondering if this Egyptian style is adapted to oscar wilde:

I watch everything on my laptop.. even though I have an hdtv + the cable..

I downloaded the Dorian Gray movie as soon as you recommended the book.. Will watch it soon.. Reading literature is not my thing, non-fiction is much more enjoyable, preferably self-help, thought, history and such.  I've heard a lot about Alphonso De Lamartine lately, especially his work (History of Turkey). Will probably read that or at least skim through it.
http://archive.org/search.php?query=lamartine%20turkey%20AND%20mediatype%3Atexts

Wonder if he has a similar tomb?

Latest movies I've seen:

Man of Steel, Iron Man 3, and The Croods at the theaters.. 3D is an amazing experience. Once in a lifetime at least - a must.
Assault on Wallstreet - A good movie but the violence is just horribly too much?
Olympus has Fallen & White House Down - unrealistic & insulting to the viewers intellect.
They Live (1989 I think) a great movie very symbolic, a lot of lines from the movie were plagiarized in a certain pc game.
Evil Dead - Not bad.

Hey Scarface! I noticed the .mkv movie files on your PC. Do you watch the movies on your computer or on your TV? I'm asking because in my case, the movies I've downloaded that can be viewed on the TV from a flashdrive are .mp4 (X264), .avi or .aac. The TV won't play .mkv unless I convert it first. Other than a short clip, I much prefer to sit back and watch on the TV.

Since these files are Blu-Ray rips, I was going to ask how would you burn them to a BD. I'm seeing Burnaware also does this. I just checked and it was ready to burn one of my files to a BD disk, I just don't have one - nor a Blu-Ray burner either.  :)

I have no TV, its keeping me from becoming grumpy and silly and no dvd drive nor bluray drive (so I watched movies on my laptop, I don't do it any longer because I don't have the time). I just store them on a usb key. there is no difference between mkv & mp4 they are just containers.

aa1234779 that can't hurt a fly doesn't enjoy violence at all. A horror or action movie that is great has to be realistic, so the violence just comes with the package, not a joy in its self.

BTW, the " les aventures de rabbi jacob" was quite funny..

Against cruelty - humane maybe but not mystic whatever you mean by it :D
I can watch anything but there is no point in seeking out violent entertainment.. I watch the walking dead regularly because it's entertaining not because it's violent..
As to the movie.. The photography is amazing especially the seen of the hair transitioning into hay fields.. that was amazing..
The story is awkward & paranormal twists usually come with plot holes making them hard to comprehend..

Reminds me of..
Red Lights (2012)
Donnie Darko (2001) this movie is awesome..

I disagree. A movie is simply a movie and nothing more. I love movies with plenty of explicit sex and graphic violence. I also love those spooky movies with ghosts, demons and people getting killed.

Remember it's just a movie. In real life I'd never dream of engaging in any kind of violence. Explicit sex.... probably.  :)

@aa1234779 -> How do you find the time to watch all those movies you download? Or is it that you burn them to DVD and sell them?

Don't you hate that 2.35:1 aspect ratio some of those movies use and the letterbox image on your TV? Clearly this is to appease the movie theaters. Movie theaters are another technology on the way out. Good riddance!

I keep them on an external hd to watch whenever I find the time.. Last hd I stocked up took more than a year for me to finish them, not to mention the movies that are unworthy of being watched.. This is the benefit of unlimited bandwidth..  :)

I just got used to the format these torrents are released in as long as it's at least 720p & the video isn't compressed too much.
How are theaters on the way out? As far as I know, Hollywood is still making hundreds of billions from the business.
Title: Re: good movies
Post by: humbert on March 28, 2014, 05:29 PM
Sure enough, there are many movies out there that aren't worth the HD space. As for downloading all of them only because you have the bandwidth to do so, does having ample supplies of water mean you're going to drink 100 liters every or what?

As for the movies, let me clarify. Certainly Hollywood makes billions and will continue doing so. It's their distribution method that will change. It's analogous to what's happening to brick-and-mortar music stores or to businesses such as Blockbuster video where you physically have to go get a DVD to play. With faster bandwidth becoming more and more ubiquitous, more and more people will download movies. Since policing this will not work, Hollywood will do what the music industry did - "legalize" downloading by charging people an affordable price. Also, just a few days ago on the news it said the movie theaters are dropping their prices - attendance is dropping and fewer and fewer people are willing to pay the outrageous fees they charge.

Mark my words.

Scarface, et al. -> Many movies I download were filmed in the detestable 21:9± aspect ratio, which means when I play them on my 16:9 TV I get those disgusting black bars on the top and bottom. Can anyone recommend a program or some other way to "pan & scan" these to 16:9 and therefore get rid of those black bars?

I've looked around on Google and Youtube, but what I've run into confuses me more than helps me. My TV only stretches 4:3 to 16:9, which isn't what I'm looking for.
Title: Re: good movies
Post by: scarface on April 19, 2014, 03:38 AM
Any solution involves cropping or distorting the image...
You can try to reencode with handbrake, and put your own height/width or one parameter only with the "keep aspect ratio". There Is also the anamorphic option but its difficult.
You should read the handbrake settings topic and perhaps talk to Ahmad, he's undoubtedly the real specialist for this.
Title: Re: good movies
Post by: humbert on April 19, 2014, 07:33 PM
I wasn't aware that Ahmad was the expert on this. Since this is a public post, hopefully he'll read this and enlighten me.

I've been reading a little about this. What I'm trying to do is called "pan & scan". This involves cropping out a small amount of the edges on both sides (hopefully the least important) resulting in that the aspect ratio is reduced to 16:9. I installed Handbrake once but I didn't see any way to do this.

Any ideas?

Title: Re: good movies
Post by: Ahmad on April 20, 2014, 01:16 PM
Sorry humbert :(
I'm not that expert about that.

I never need to change the aspect ratio when encoding a video because it deteriorate the picture. Also I scarcely need to convert videos.

But you can use any program, like handbrake as scarface said, and write the width and height manually.
Also, you need to convert to a format that your TV will understand. I don't know if handbrake converts to a format other than h264 or not.

I tried a program before and it was sufficient for any kind of converting..
Its name is Format Factory (http://www.pcfreetime.com/).

Title: Re: good movies
Post by: humbert on April 21, 2014, 05:37 PM
The reason I'm trying to crop the edges of a 2:35:1 movie down to 16:9 is precisely to get rid of those horrendous black bars at the top and bottom of the TV screen. It's true that some of the edges need to be cropped out, but going from 21:9 to 16:9 isn't that bad. The real deterioration involves cropping it down to 4:3 to fill those ancient square TV's. Let me give Format Factory a try and see if that works.

The TV supports h.264 AVC mp4 files - there are some I get from Yify that won't play on the TV (all will play on the computer). I've been told it's probably some codec in the mp4 container the TV doesn't like. I can make it work by using Ultra Video Joiner to "convert" it to the supported format, but UVJ won't make it come out as 16:9. I'm doing all this because I hate watching movies on the computer, that's what the TV is for.

@Shadow -> When I used to rip DVD's, I used Slysoft's AnyDVD combined with CloneDVD. AnyDVD destroys the copy protection and any region code while the other one copies or converts. It worked great. You might want to check it out.

@humbert..

I want to say that I prefer Mediacoder than Format Factory in quality and customizations..

Format Factory is just more simple and every one can understand it easily, yet it has a worse AAC encoding quality than Mediacoder.

So, In the case of your TV (MP4, H264 encoding), I think scarface's recommendation about Mediacoder is better.

I just tested Mediacoder and it worked - it successfully cropped a 2.35:1 movie down to 16:9. What surprised me was that the output file was 664 MB, and yet the input file was 1.25 GB. All other converters made the file much larger than the original. Since I'm a newbie at all this, I'm wondering if this is the program or that my settings are off.
Title: Re: good movies
Post by: Ahmad on April 26, 2014, 01:02 PM
Size becomes smaller may be due to one of the following reasons:

1-) The resolution produced is much smaller than the original ..

Example in your case..
If the original video resolution was 1692x720 and you cropped it to 1280x720
This will lessen the total size of the video.
Note that the produced size will be much smaller if you cropped the video to a resolution much lower then 1280x720 .. for example: If you cropped it to 740x360 instead of 1280x720 , the size will be nearly the half.

2-) Also the value of the bit rate plays an important role ..

If the original resolution and the produced resolution are the same, but the bit rate becomes the half, in this case also the size of the video will be nearly the half.

I think those are the most important controllers of the video size.
Title: Re: good movies
Post by: scarface on April 26, 2014, 03:30 PM
Indeed, but I disagree with your calculation.
If You switch from 1280x720 to 1280x360, You should have half the size, unless Im wrong, then less with your example.
I dont know if You include the blacks bars or not in the format anyway, they take less space.

A long time ago I had uploaded equilibrium on a torrent site (t411), in English (2.07Gb). Its still available, if You want to see my standard in term of quality.

Unfortunately for Fuj, this is not an intellectual movie but a good thriller.
I'm not the one claiming to like intellectual movies, you are.

Speaking of violence, this is one of my favourites:

Zombie genre connoisseurs certainly know this one. The original title is Braindead but in USA it was released under the name Dead Alive. It's a 1992 film by Peter Jackson, before he became famous with Lord of The Rings. I'm not really into horrors but I love horror comedies. And this is the best one, alongside Evil Dead 2. I dislike tv violence if it's made too realistic but that is definitely not the case here, it's totally caricaturized. The amount of blood is absurd.

I didn't see this one. Overall, I'm not into zombies movies, even if I still have the first opus of Resident Evil.

Yes, but it's you who deemed the following movies not "intellectually challenging" http://www.nomaher.com/forum/index.php?topic=1782.msg13908#msg13908.
For most people, those movies are good movies, and for some, they are perhaps even difficult to understand.
But here, we have a demanding audience. In most countries, it's not the middle class who has an internet access and who comes here to read a forum in English. That's why I put different kind of movies, so that a lot of people will find here something they like.
Once again, I guess that most people prefer the movies with Van damme to the misanthrope of Molière (theater piece).

I'm already equipped with many gigs of unseen material but I'm downloading this. Tomorrow I'm going away for a while and I'll be visiting a cousin who likes French comedies so we'll watch it together. Men coming from the past - it reminds me of Les Visiteurs, that was a good one. One French film I've seen recently and liked is Intouchables, a good comedy-drama.
[Edit] I just remembered another one: La cité des enfants perdus (The City of Lost Children); this film is something special.

As for that site, IDM will download the movie for you, but only at 360p maximum. Clearly it's meant for watching on the computer. I HATE watching moves on the computer, that's what the TV is for.

Tonight, I'm going to present a new movie, titled 'Exam'. This British movie was released in 2009.
The story seems simple: The film is set in present-time United Kingdom in an alternate history. Eight candidates dress for what appears to be an employment assessment exam. They enter a room and sit down at individual desks. Each desk contains a paper with the word "candidate", followed by a number, from one to eight. The Invigilator, a representative of the company named DATAPREV, explains that the exam takes 80 minutes and consists of one question only, and that there are three rules: they must not talk to the Invigilator or the armed guard at the door, spoil their paper, or leave the room. Not obeying the rules will result in disqualification.
With such a plot, the movie is gripping from the beginning and the rest of the film make us wonder what is going to happen to the candidates.
Like the cube movies trilogy, there is always a troubling atmosphere and every single minute, it gets more suspenseful and engaging. it really gets you to think what is the question, which is so painfully obvious once you realise what is the question.

Depending on your country, choose whether you can see this movie:  Australia:M / Germany:16 / Japan:G / Netherlands:12 / Singapore:PG13 / South Korea:15 / Spain:16 / UK:15 / USA:Not Rated

1408 is an awesome movie. I saw it about a year ago. BTW, as for those ages per country you posted, since when do we pirates follow rules such as this? Just download the movie and to hell with everything else.

I didn't see 187, but I do agree that the educational system in this country is decrepit. It's one more way the oligarchy that governs this country stays in power - they make sure the people are kept ignorant and obedient.

And speaking of movies, check out "The Interview". It's the one you've been reading about in the news. The one Kim Jong-Un declared and "act of war" and subsequently tried to hack Sony and threaten movie theaters who show it. This dictator doesn't seem to understand that all he's doing is putting money in Sony's bank account, not to mention giving the movie such a massive amount of publicity Sony couldn't achieve no matter how much they paid their advertizers. To give you an idea, when I did a torrent search and found it, it had almost 26000 seeds and peers. In all the time I've been torrenting, never have I seen that number so high. And not just Americans - people from everywhere wanted it.

Remember this movie is a satire, and satires by their nature are exaggerated and don't exactly reflect how things are in real life.

I must tell vasudev that I didn't like the movie 'Now you see me'. In fact a coworker brought his hdd filled with 1To of mkv in bluray and I had the opportunity to take him a few movies, but most of them were american, brainless and finally bad. I wouldn't have watched it otherwise.
And this movie made no exception.
The plot was farfetched and despite a promising opening sequence, the movie was utterly lacking intellectual integrity. The explanations for the unbelievable twists were hardly expedient.

Personally I don't think I provide copyrighted materials on the forum and if anybody thinks it's the case, send me a message, I will remove the links in question. In France movies are rated 12+, 16+ or 18+. The latter is usually reserved for horror movies or pornographic movies. But most of the time French movies are rated "for all audience" even when the rating 12+ could be seen as obvious. For example, watch the movie "swimming pool", by Ozon, where you can see boobs and other stuff, it was rated "for all audience". Same thing for the movie "jeune et jolie".
link here: http://123movies.ru/film/swimming-pool-9934/watching.html
And compare with the other ratings...
Argentina:16 / Australia:MA15+ / Canada:18A / Canada:A (Ontario) / Chile:14 / Finland:K-15 / France:Tous publics / Germany:12 (bw) / Hong Kong:III (original rating) / Hong Kong:IIB (re-rating) / Ireland:18 / Italy:VM14 / Japan:R-15 / Netherlands:12 / New Zealand:R16 / Philippines:R-18 / Portugal:M/16 / Singapore:R(A) (edited version) / Singapore:R21 (re-rating) / South Korea:18 / Sweden:7 / Switzerland:16 (canton of Geneva) / Switzerland:16 (canton of Vaud) / Switzerland:16 (canton of Zurich) / Switzerland:16 (canton of the Grisons) / UK:15 / USA:R (cut)

´Fixed, I was just a bit lazy.

I watched the main part. Skipped the obivous sex part.
But honestly, this seems very normal to me. This is happening all over the place, and I have several female friends who can witness about the groping(The pool). Them being the younger sibling, watching as people hit on your sister and it gets very uncomfortable.
People taking control of your phone and such.
And, people have sex, its quite common.
Honestly, this video basically describes norway. (And sweden I guess.)
The translation killed it a bit for me though. I'd prefer with norwegian sub, or no sub. Its just small things, like when they said "bye" at the house. They wave, and say "Have a nice time" but it was translated into "bye"..

Kinda pushy to say the least about the guys coming to the girls house. Thats pressure alot of people cant handle properly.

I'll try to get time to watch the other clip, but i watched this because it was norwegian ^^.

Perhaps a dumb question, but have you seen find Dory? Is it as good as they say ?

I watched Prestige a few years ago. It was a good movie, but for a film about magic, I preferred The illusionist.
And if you want to watch other movies with Bale, I advise Equilibrium, or the machinist.

-Osama, an Afghan movie. I know that some of you live near Afghanistan , like usman or Vasudev. Maybe this movie will encourage them to visit the tribal areas of this country. Ifyou are bringing a camera, maybe you should first seek permission from the Taliban.

If he can get himself into Canada he's in good shape. If he convinces Canadian authorities he's being persecuted in his country, all the better. USA not a good idea at this time, especially for Muslims.

Claustrophobia

A plot was good but there were some things I was really confused. The heroine was able to walk/fight Alex immediately after removing one of her kidneys.
First I thought the Police officer would save her but Alex Choked him using iPad. Maybe Apple products must be banned. hehe.
Anyway it was a good watch and wasn't that violent. After seeing GTA 5 Trevor's actions these looked minor.

How to pronounce what? The title of the movie?
Well, it's L'amant double, L' being a contraction of the definite article "Le" before a vowel...

Tonight, an excellent South-Korean movie is available on the forum, titlted Forgotten and released in 2017.

Link: https://vmovee.me/mystery/forgotten

The story:
Jin-Seok (Kang Ha-Neul) moves into a new home with his older brother Yoo-Seok (Kim Moo-Yul), mother (Na Young-Hee) and father (Moon Sung-Geun). Jin-Seok suffers from hypersensitivity, but with medication he is able to live normally. One rainy evening, Jin-Seok sees his older brother being thrown into a van by a group of men. After 19 days of silence, Yoo-Seok returns home, but he doesn't remember anything from his disappearance. Jin-Seok though notices enough changes in his older brother's personality and behavior that he begins to suspect that the person who has returned is not Yoo-Seok. Meanwhile, Jin-Seok keeps hearing sounds from a locked room temporarily storing the previous home owner's belongings.

It's the same thing in the United States anyway. I had an acquaintance over there who was 62. He had big dental problems (I think he needed a bridge. But it was too expensive: he had too pay 25000$. So he went to Bogota. But he fell in the coma and died over there (bad food?). Well, he was still working 50 hours a week, and he was indebted since he still had a mortgage. Maybe he's lucky after all. He would have probably worked till 80).

Well, in certain places, access to a doctor is rare. If you were in Yemen, maybe it would be even worse. And since you used quotation marks, I guess you were not a real uber but a kind of "gypsy cab". In here those who are working for Uber are regularly protesting in the airports. It seems a cabbie's pay doesn't compensate for the backache.

But this is going to change. Failing to find new renewable energies, and after thorough testing, Chinese engineers found a new way to prompt people to get up earlier and be more productive. For this experiment, they chose the laziest worker and the outcome was a real success.
Once awake, no doubt this worker will go fruit-picking or harvesting in the fields.

Back pain because of an old injury came back while "Ubering".

You were sitting there driving your car and the pain came back suddenly? You weren't in an accident or make a bad gesture to cause the slippage?

The little money earned is not worth a moment of the pain.

I agree. As I understand it you were just driving. In other words, it seems you weren't doing anything you'd think would cause the slippage to come back. Right?

Being a bit over-weight (not obese) + 40 hours weekly driving + very unhealthy car seat = lots and lots of pain while driving and when resting because of all the pressure on the spine.

A documentary, in French, about the situation in Gaza: for the UN, the area is almost unlivable. While subsidies for Gaza and the PA amount to 400 million and half of the population depend on them, Trump decided to slash them (the US is the biggest contributor) because the US is bankrupt (it’s an euphemism). Undoubtedly, the spotters have a degree in CRM. Then you have to look for the seller. (http://www.kinocollection.ru/pictures/1492_conquest_bd_big.jpg)

Having convinced the King and Queen of Spain to finance his voyage, Christopher Columbus departed mainland Spain on August 3, 1492 in command of three ships: the Pinta, the Niña, and the Santa María. After a final restocking in the Canary Islands he left there on September 6 for what turned out to be a five-week voyage across the ocean. On October 12, Rodrigo de Triana, a sailor aboard the Pinta, first sighted land. Columbus himself later claimed that he had seen a sort of light or aura before Triana did, allowing him to keep the reward he had promised to give whomever spotted land first. The land turned out to be a small island in the present-day Bahamas, which Columbus named San Salvador. On October 28 he reached Cuba. Thinking he had found China, he sent two men to investigate. Not surprisingly, they failed in their mission to find the Emperor of China, but did visit a native Taíno village.

In retrospect, it is somewhat surprising that what is today considered one of the most important voyages in history was something of a failure at the time. Columbus had promised to find a new, quicker route to the lucrative Chinese trade markets and he failed miserably. Instead of holds full of Chinese silks and spices he returned with some trinkets and a few bedraggled natives from Hispaniola: some ten more had perished on the voyage. In addition, he had lost the largest of the three ships entrusted to him. Columbus actually considered the natives his greatest find. He thought that a new slave trade could make his discoveries lucrative. Columbus was hugely disappointed a few years later when Queen Isabela, after careful thought, decided not to open the New World to slave trading. Columbus never believed that he had found something new: he maintained, to his dying day, that the lands he discovered were indeed part of the known Far East. During his second journey he explored the south coast of Cuba, which he believed to be a peninsula of China rather than an island. He described the lands discovered during his third journey as belonging to a previously unknown new continent, but he pictured it hanging from China, bulging out to make the earth pear-shaped. Although Columbus was a gifted sailor, he was a terrible administrator, and the colony he founded on Hispaniola turned against him. After his third trip he was arrested and sent back to Spain in chains. Although he was quickly freed by the King and Queen, his reputation was shot. The Fourth Voyage was a failure by almost any standard. Many of Columbus’ men died, the ships were lost and no passage to the west was ever found. Columbus himself would never sail again, and died convinced that he had found Asia, even if most of Europe already accepted the fact that the Americas were an unknown “New World.”

Already has a BDRip version of Xmen apocalypse.
Who has a BDrip of Xmen apocalypse? the Pope? I assume you are talking about yourself in the third person. Julius Caesar did that. After all, If you do that it won't bother me.

Well you have to know that I won't keep the messages about Xmen apocalyspe though, I will delete them in a few days. This movie was bad. It's an euphemism. So once the link is dead I won't make a new one (and I have no more space on my mega account). I hadn't watched the movie before making the rip (out of a downloaded Bluray) and uploading it to the forum. But I should have been more cautious. Unfortunately most of the time, the movies with Jennifer Lawrence are taking part in deadening people's mind.

X-Men first class was probably the best of the series. And apocalypse is maybe the worst one to date.
The main scoundrel's motivation was bland (killing everyone to become the master of the world).
The way he "persuades" other mutants to join him is a nonsense - he basically just offers to increase a mutant's power and in return demands help to kill billions of people. Sounds like a fair deal. Like, Magneto gains the power to control pretty much all the metal on the planet at once, while Psylocke gains another special effect on her CGI laser beams or whatever it is that she emits. Apocalypse's abilities in general are largely undefined - at times he is shown pulling matter from objects around him to construct something, and then in the next shot he just makes solid objects like armor out of thin air. Another ridiculous thing was that they tried to make Isaac more intimidating by giving him thick soles so that he'd look taller, which is noticeable. What is more, his lines are cringe-worthy, but the problem is, so are everyone else's.
I think it was 720por 1080p. Damn good quality like Revenant you posted at Mega. My friends were spellbound after seeing the BDrip of Revanant and vowed never to touch DVDRip.

I know that the users of the forum like old movies. That's why tonight the movie My Best Friend's Girl, released in 1983, is available on the forum.
The movie is starring the excellent Coluche, as well as Isabelle Huppert and Thierry Lhermitte.

If you watched l'aile ou la cuisse (available here: http://www.nomaher.com/forum/index.php?topic=1023.msg29243#msg29243), chances are you already know Coluche.

The story: Isabelle Huppert plays an attractive Parisienne out looking for some fun during her vacation on the ski slopes of Courchevel in the Alps when she starts up a relationship with a great-looking sportswear salesman, but at the same time she is entranced by a little chubby disk jockey in a night club.

If the users of the forum are gathering in Palestine one day, at the administator's mansion, I imagine humbert, aa1234779 and myself as Coluche and Maher as Thierry Lhermitte (I'm pretty sure that Vasudev and usman are laughing right now, and to put it bluntly, I hope that Maher's laughter didn't turn sour).

By the way, if aa1234779 is wondering if Coluche is still making movies, the answer is no. He died a few years after shooting this movie in a motorcycle accident near Cannes.

In French with English subtitles.

Some screenshots of the movie The Vengeance of the Winged Serpent. If you can, you should watch it, it's certainly one of the best movies with Coluche. I have this movie, but I didn't find any English subtitles.

aa1234779 and Vasudev probably know the famous actor on the left: he was a source of inspiration for Clint Eastwood.

Tonight, some new movies are available on the forum.
If some of you have interesting movies, and I'm thinking about aa1234779, usman or Ahmad, feel free to upload them on the forum. You can open an account on mega.nz for free.
In my opinion, if the plot is gripping, if it doesn't come from the US (I'm not saying they don't have any good movie), and if there is acceptable nudity, it's certainly a good movie.

All of them have English Subtitles.

Higher bitrate? Your link says the movie is in 720p. This is pretty low considering it's 1.75GB in size. Why not get movies in 1080p instead?

In 2003, I went to watch this film at the movie theater Pathé Chavant in Grenoble.

The story: A British mystery author visits her publisher's home in the South of France, where her interaction with his unusual daughter sets off some touchy dynamics.

Maybe some of you watched the movie Swimming pool, available above.
It's not a masterpiece, I agree with you. You can probably find better movies on the forum.
But the movie is filled with symbols, and if you don't pay attention, if you don't understand the symbols that punctuate this movie, it can become dull very quickly.
If you watched it, I advise you to read my interpretation below.

Interpretation of the movie.
Sarah morton is an embittered and jaded woman who will relearn how to live through an intellectual and fantasy experience.
At the end of the movie, we are disturbed by the arrival of the publisher's daughter Julia and the mixture of the two images of Julie and Julia in the imagination of Sarah. This indicates that Julie and Julia are in fact the same person, one being the illustration of reality: a banal young girl with an ungrateful face and the other the representation of fantasy: a young woman with a dream body. This shows us that we have just looked at a story that we thought was real while we were immersed in the imagination of Sarah Morton: we observed elements and drew a false conclusion: the story that is happening is different from the reality: one of the themes is therefore the difference between what we believe to be the truth and the reality.
This difference is due to our interpretation influenced by our way of functioning and our fantasies. This theme is repeated in different moments of the film, especially when Sarah rolls the swimming pool cover, we think (like her) that she will discover a body when it is only a pneumatic mattress (which announces a future murder). Similarly, the scar of Julie is the illustration of the existence of Julie, it is the symbol of the reality of the body as a matter that can react, once again Ozon plays with us since we will learn at the end of the film that Julie is not real but imaginary.
Sexuality, death, blood are the universe in which we are immersed, in the heart of the soul of a frustrated and nostalgic novelist who says herself "she is passionate about crime sex and money. "
When sarah arrives in her room, she removes the cross from the wall: the cross represents the religion and its morality: Thus, Sarah will fantasize and sin and she removes the cross that calls her to order and we go back in her fantasies.
Sarah's absent lover becomes the absent father of Julie. The latter is looking for herself in her partners and hates him for abandoning her, leaving such a traumatism that she will even kill the waiter who rejects her and wants to leave: this revives her childhood trauma and this time she can make somebody pay for the harm done to her: she will kill this surrogate father: it is therefore a patricide that we are witnessing and not just the death of a waiter.
The death of the waiter, the death of Julie's mother announced by a person dressed in black, who ages too quickly (and thus dies too soon): All are symbols of death.
Finally the pool itself represents a place of rebirth: water symbolizes life: it is an amniotic liquor in which Julie is bathing from the beginning.

The writing of this book will allow Sarah to be reborn by the externalization of her fantasies, her frustrations, the monotony of her life, her lover who ignored her (this being symbolized by the signing of a contract at another publisher). She will discover the truth and meet the real daughter of the editor: Julia.

I was confused at first but now with your interpretation it is easier to understand.

Yes. Sometimes banal movies have a deeper meaning. That's the case with Swimming pool. That's the case with Fight club too. The movie is violent, but if you scratch the surface, it is calling into question a society based on efficiency and individualism.

Note that I corrected my review about Swimming pool, and therefore your message. Indeed, I jotted down a note in French, and then translated it with google translate. Not because I'm not able to do it, but because it's quicker. I noted that serveur had been translated incorrectly as server, but I forgot one occurrence. Indeed, serveur means both waiter and server in French.

By the way, here is an interesting review that I found about Fight Club:
The narrator’s shifting from himself into Tyler Durden was a bit of a profundity because, when he was Tyler, he spoke with confidence and people followed. He was a bit like Jesus in the way he was charismatic.
Look at it this way, the Narrator (We’ll call him Jack since that’s who he is in the book) is always answering to someone. Jack doesn’t have any real lust for life. He seeks answers but doesn’t seem to find anything other than the superficial. It’s bothering him. Jack can’t sleep because he’s never had a truly spiritual experience. Then, when he’s Tyler, he confirms this because when he’s Tyler, he says this:
“Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. “
Juxtapose that against what he said to Jack in the bar over three pitchers of beer which means that Jack had three pitchers of beer and discussed this entire thing…with himself.
“We are consumers. We're the by-products of a lifestyle obsession. “
The problem is that Jack is lifestyle obsessed. I mean he is absolutely consumed by it. He even states that he was nearly complete. What does that even mean.

Then Tyler starts to manifest. Just look at the guy. It’s really obvious he doesn’t give two shits what you or I would think of him. He dresses how he wants when he wants and isn’t bothered by what anyone may think of him. He lives in a house that, by all rights, should be condemned. He’s on the bottom, rock bottom and he doesn’t give a ****. He’s not a consumer. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t give a **** about the latest cologne. He’s Jack’s exact polar opposite. Jack feels ineffectual, Tyler is charismatic and takes charge. Jack doesn’t seem to have a lot of luck with the ladies, Tyler is into sport-*******. Jack is lying to police about his apartment, Tyler would be more than happy to tell the cops, “**** you guys I blew it up because I just couldn’t take the soul-rending bullshit of being almost complete anymore.”

Tyler amasses a following and Fight Club morphs into Project Mayhem because, in Tyler’s Mind, these people want to be led to Tyler’s promised land. There’s adventure and wonder there. There’s danger. There’s the ability to be shaken up the core. Tyler has found a need. People no longer want to be chained to that nine to five where they have no incentive to pursue their dreams, these people that follow Tyler want to be anarchistic in their freedom. They want to answer to no one. They want what Tyler has. They don’t want masters but they don’t know how to get there so, for now, they accept Tyler as their master, knowing that, at some point, they’ll be required to get from Point A to Point B on their own spiritually.

Tonight the users of the forum are very calm. Nobody is speaking on the forum. Maybe they are a bit bored, or even worse, depressed?
That's why 2 new episodes of the X-files are available on the forum.

Tonight, the French movie Student services, released in 2010, is available on the forum.
Note that this movie might not be suitable for everyone of the forum, and I'm thinking about akaubee or usman.

After an initial stage of ambivalence and hesitation, I finally decided to upload this movie for the forum. There is no doubt humbert and aa1234779 will enjoy this film. But what about the school boys or the least fortunate of the forum, who could recognize themselves in Laura D.?
In all likelihood, this movie won't turn out to be a mirror reflecting their inner world.

My opinion: In the first 20 minutes of the movie, the predicament of the young student induces a state of queasy anticipation. The scenes with a world of lurid colors are intertwined with darker scenes. The viewers of the forum will certainly notice the stark contrast between the young student and the elderly customers.

The story:
Laura D. is a modern language student at a Paris university who desperately wants to do well in school. She works a part-time job but cannot make ends meet. One evening in which she is short of funds, she answers a personal ad online by "Joe," 57, who seeks a female student for "tender moments." The pay is 100 euros per hour. Laura pledges to do this just once, and three days later, she goes to a hotel room with Joe. And then her spiral begins.

In French with English subtitles.

Tonight, the documentary Fahrenheit 11/9 is available on the forum.
In this documentary, Michael Moore examines the current state of American politics, particularly the Donald Trump presidency and gun violence, while highlighting the power of grassroots democratic movements. But I must say I've been disappointed, the film failing to deliver something relevant.

The Vengeance of the Winged Serpent (La vengeance du serpent à plumes) is a 1984 French/Mexican adventure comedy directed by Gérard Oury and starring Coluche as Loulou Dupin, a middle-aged loser. Tonight a new movie is available on the forum, titled Murder on the Orient express.
It is a 2017 mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. For the lovers of Egypt like aa1234779 or Maher, it is a must-see.
And maybe some of you know the world's best-selling mystery book, "And Then There Were None", also known as "Ten little niggers" when it was published in 1939. I read it roughly 15 years ago, and I advise you to read it if you haven't done it yet, it's a masterpiece.

Tonight, the movie Unseen enemy is available on the forum.

Unseen Enemy is an essential exploration of reasons 21st-century populations are experiencing a rash of diseases that were once only outbreaks, but have now become full-blown epidemics. This increased risk that we face, and the ways society and individuals can work together to reduce that risk, are explained to the public through the case studies of three epidemics: Ebola, influenza and Zika. Moving across the globe, we meet doctors, disease detectives and everyday people who have stepped into the horror of an epidemic and emerged deeply changed. Epidemics bring out the best and worst of human behavior, with effects reaching far beyond the tolls of sickness and death.

I haven't seen the movie but I do know the situation with epidemics is not as bad as it seems, and improving. Back in the 1980's HIV was a death sentence. Today that's no longer the case. A few years ago we were helpless against ebola. There are now vaccines and better methods of treatment. Cases or ebola are down, survivorship is up. Despite the fact that both your father and mine died of cancer, even there survivorship is much higher than it used to be, and slowly increasing as time passes. Some 12 years ago I survived cancer. If it had been 20 years earlier I would not be posting this message today.

Concerning diseases spread by mosquitoes, I'm a bit pessimistic, because the effects of climate change will allow some species to go where they were not able to go before. Before 2008 there was no tiger mosquito in France.
For example, I was in the South of France this summer (actually somewhere between Lyon and Marseille), and I stumbled upon a tiger mosquito (I killed him so I was able to check that). I had never seen one before. some users of the forum like you, Maher or Vasudev probably know it already. They need warm climates but they are unable to live in the desert. With warmer Winters, they are rapidly spreading to Northern Europe and Northern America.

Today, a new movie is available on the forum, titled Suspiria, and released in 2018.

Review: A young American woman moves to Germany to attend a prestigious dance academy run by witches, including choreographer Madame Blanc; mysterious disappearances and schizophrenic behavior haunt its halls. The similaritieswith the first Suspiria largely end there, though. The new Suspiria isn't so much a giallo wannabe as it is a deep psychological mindfuck about the horror of knowing that the evils of days gone by never really leave us. It’s also a beautiful film with some deeply unsettling sound design and a truly twisted ending.

Note that most copies found on the internet have no subtitles for the German parts an this is pretty confusing. I did a Brrip of the original version, so this one has.

What cancer did you have?

Esophageal. I felt some mild difficulty swallowing and at first thought nothing of it. Deciding to err on the side of caution, I went to the gastroenterologist where an endoscopy confirmed the results. I got 6 months of punishing chemotherapy followed by a month of intense radiation. The treatment was so severe I was hospitalized twice. In the end the tumor was eradicated and hasn't returned in 12 years. 20 years ago PET scans didn't exist. This meant the surgeon would have to cut me open and attempt to remove the tumor. This would not have worked in my case since the cancer was inoperable.

Concerning diseases spread by mosquitoes, I'm a bit pessimistic, because the effects of climate change will allow some species to go where they were not able to go before. Before 2008 there was no tiger mosquito in France.

The Tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) is native to southeast Asia and is an invasive specie everywhere else. We all know what happens when a specie is inadvertently introduced to a place where it doesn't belong. History is rife with examples. Either way, I wouldn't be as pessimistic as you are. You know what happened to Ferdinand de Lesseps when he attempted to build the Panama Canal. Eventually the problem was solved and yellow fever eradicated. I've been to Panama twice and haven't seen a single mosquito. An even better example is South Florida. The Everglades are arguably the most mosquito-infested area in the world. It can't be sprayed because it would have an negative effect on the delicate environment. Despite this, the human population continues to grow and thrive.

Your survival rate was only 25%. You have been lucky.
My father has not been so lucky. I was a bit astonished to see that someone who is apparently healthy in October can be diagnosed with an advanced lung cancer in November and die 3 weeks later. But I found a similar case on the internet, here with user pol00lx: http://forum.doctissimo.fr/sante/cancers/cancer-poumon-foudroyant-sujet_158550_1.htm
Note that I'm wondering if sth has not happened to Maher (and to the users of the forum who have disappeared).

Despite this, the human population continues to grow and thrive.
Maybe it's a bigger problems than mosquitos, indeed.
