Title: Win7 integrated vs ThinPC, install from ISO Stick
Post by: Virgus on September 07, 2014, 12:19 PM
Hello everybody,
I spent almost a night trying to solve the classic installation problem
of windows 7 "A required CD/DVD driver is missing".

I read around all the forums to switch from usb3 ports to usb2 but
my Asus i5 laptop has only usb2 ports. I also tried different supports
other than ISOstick CDrom emulation with the same results.

After many tries both with supports and BIOS settings I just downloaded
a copy of ThinPC (resized version of W7 for legacy PCs) and put its ISO
onto my ISOstick.

It installed! No problems at all, no matter if the configuration of the bios SATA
was in IDE emulation or AHCI!

Has anybody had the same problem? Can you point me to a possible solution
to avoid having to copy locally the setup files?
I'd like to find a way to easily install Maherz W7 from my ISOstick.

Thanks for any help you might give me and have a nice day,
V.

I had a similar problem when I tried to install windows 7 on a ssd. I described it in the "ssd vs sshd' topic. With Ahci it gave me this:

When I switched to Ide the problem was settled. I can't figure out why though.
It was installed using a usb key too.

Hello scarface,
thanks for your fast reply.

I ended up burning a DVD not to waste other time.
Having seen the different behaviour of the ThinPC and Win7 OSs
I suppose there must be a "simple" missing driver...

I'll try with more USB keys and post the question on the ISO stick forum as well...

Cheers,
V.

Hello all,
I'm not planning to use ThinPC,
I just wanted to see if with another version I was able to install correctly from my ISOstick.

In the ThinPC iso there might be the missing driver that avoids the missing driver error,
but I'm not experienced enough to extract it and slipstream into Maher's W7 iso...

It would be great not to have "A required CD/DVD driver is missing" message any more.

I read that someone resolved the problem "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" like this:
"When Windows is asking for driver, just click Cancel. You will be brought back to the welcome screen. At the welcome screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to DIFFERENT USB PORT. Click Install Now again. The installation process will be like usual."
