Post by: Kjhoh on November 19, 2015, 06:38 PM
Hi, I have a problem with the installation which it won't get pass the validation during the installation process and ended up the installation.
I can do it before with the same installer but don't know since when it doesn't work anymore.Does anyone know the solution? Thanks!

Give imgburn a go. I suppose it'll suffice your needs. You could try blocking the validation program of nero using windows firewall.

Because of such problems with the newest versions of Nero,
I m still using Nero 7.11.10.0 to all my computers...

7.11.10.0 is the best version for me... It can do all things needed... (Bluray, Lightscribe etc...)

What? Nero is ultra-bloated with all kinds of unnecesary garbage tacked on. Do you use it all or what? If so then there must be many other lightweight programs that do the same thing only much better.

For burning there is nothing better than Burnaware. For that matter, who still burns CD's and DVD's? This is ancient technology that has been all but supplanted by the flash drive.

I m afraid I will disagree with you my friend...

You can't keep your old movies collection (hundreds of them) or all your favorite series (thousands of episodes) or all your of mp3 songs to flash drives...
You need to reserve a million flash drives for ever to do this...

DVDs and Blurays are the only cheap media to keep this staff archived...

Nero is in deed full of garbage, but when installing Nero, always choose custom install and then install only what you need...
Finally, as I still need a good burning software, I will give a try at the program you mentioned (Burnaware)...

----

I just checked the Burnaware.
It seems to be a very good software but unfortunately the Free version does not support direct CD/DVD to CD/DVD copy.
So I think I have to use the Premium version to do this. I ll find it and check it tomorrow (03:20 right now :o ) and I will come back to that...

what is direct cd/dvd copy? Is it copying a CD bit-by-bit so that there is virtually no info loss.

True!
But it is good for lazy guys (like me) as you only have to press the [COPY DISK] button instead of transfer the files to disk manually and then back to DVD  ;D

Software that has a fully functional free edition and a paid license edition which introduces enterprise options - Burnaware. The simple interface plus a good choice of skins for it. I'd be hard pressed to find something better. Although I liked ImgBurn at the time, it's now completely outdated. So yeah, I'd pick Burnaware over Nero at any time.

I prefer ImgBurn to copy CD/DVD into an ISO/BIN file and archive it to HDD or flash drive. After using usb flash, CD/DVD is painstakingly slow. But sometimes, its better to carry CD/DVD when something like malware could modify usb drive contents and CD/DVD is read-only. HBCD is burned to a CD.

But Imgburn only allows you to burn files of create files on cd/dvd.
I need to copy the dvd/cd so I no need to get the iso from the original one and burn to a new one.

And yeah, although the usage of cd or dvd is quite an old way to do with compared to flash drives, but there are still pros and cons about it.

In conclusion BurnAware did solve my problem, so I think I won't be using Nero again lol.
Thanks a lot guys! ;D

I don't know what part of the world you live in, but according to Amazon here in America these are the prices:

100 Pack of DVD's               --  about $21.50
128 GB Flashdrive               --  about $25.00  (storage capacity of about 27.3 DVD's)
1 TB USB Portable Drive      --  about $50.00  (storage capacity of about 213 DVD's)

Add to this the inconvenience of having 100's of disks taking up space, getting lost or getting scratched. Also, keep in mind the DVD price I posted is for non-rewritable DVD-R's. Once written to they can't be modified. Flashdrives and portable drives don't have this problem.

Bottom line: Burning DVD's is ancient technology rapidly headed for extinction.

No... you misunderstood me... I m not doing that for money.
I had a 3TB full of TV series but the disk crashed and I lost all of them. From that moment I m only burning movies I want to archive (Not view or modify) to DVDs.

Regarding the prices in Greece (shop prices) both HDDs and DVDs are cheap enough:
e.g.: 100 Branded DVDs (Money back guarantee) 18â,¬, 100 Unbranded DVDs (Bulk) 12â,¬

Check in add/remove programs if Nero Burning ROM 2015 has an entry. If yes, then uninstall it. There are two different installer technologies out in the field.
