Does Mega give you a hard time with these files like Vasudev said? Are your copies of Windows pre-activated or do you provide an activator or a link for one?

Mega never deleted any of my files stored on it. There is probably nothing amiss in the windows 11 iso.

Vasudev: We don't have a physical server in India due to new IT policies to share VPN data so most of them opted out and switched to diskless servers.

Who exactly shares your VPN data? Does that mean getting a VPN is India is basically a waste of money? Also, these diskless servers you mention: do they just link you to servers outside India where the files you want are located, or is there more to it than that?

I did post it as public forum instead of PM/DM. Torrents are slow and throttled even with VPN in India.

Pardon my ignorance. Isn't the whole idea of a VPN to scramble data and make it difficult, if not impossible, for outsiders to know what data you're transferring? Or do we have a situation where the ISP's lack of bandwidth make it difficult to accomodate those who transfer lots of data (as in torrents) and purposely slow them down for that reason?

You might need linux livecd since running from PE some files mask themselves as System which makes it impossible to remove. Try the ISO using Ventoy or Rufus. Scan speed should be pretty quick outside WinPE.

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded the LiveCD and will put it on the same Ventoy flashdrive that has other ISO's on it.

Are there any other LiveCD's you recommend for malware removal or any other purpose, other than Strelec which was your recommendation?

Daniil started this topic with a appropriate subject. So I was wondering about him.

From what I been hearing, Russia is going from bad to worse. Putin is not only a dictator, he has become essentially a Stalinist (an admirer of Stalin who follows in his footsteps). His "special military operation" has become a war of attrition with over 100,000 Russian casualties and counting - and no end in sight. I only hope Daniil is doing well and that he hasn't been conscripted and (at best) found his way out of Russia.

Hey Humbert, did not receive email notification so missed the post. Have you tried running Emsisoft Emergency Kit? If nothing comes up then I believe the malware wrote those infected scripts to Windows recovery or ESP which can be thoroughly removed using LiveCD of Dr.web or Kaspersky or Bitdefender.

I ran Emsisoft only this time not as the default to find malware but the entire drive. It found 2 infected files. Then I booted up Strelec's CD and ran Dr.Web. That one found 2 more. The problem is gone (at least for now) and the malware was found after those files stopped coming back. Oh well...
