Many Thanks for your support. I am a little worried about this message, whether windows system files have actually been changed. If that is so, shouldn't those files be replaced with genuine windows system files? I have no idea how this can be done. What does the patch you have very kindly sent me actually do, when it is installed or run?

The DLL sfc_os.dll is partially responsible for Windows File Protection, a series of threads running within winlogon.exe.
If you replace the original dll with this one, you will disable Windows file protection. You can't execute it since it's not an executable file.
You will find more information here: http://showcase.netins.net/web/giftitems/ADVANCED/10_Windows%20File%20Protection_66.htm
And I don't know why you have unsigned files. For this you can ask shhnedo.

Janet

Hi scarface,

I downloaded the patch file. The OS is working fine so I will go ahead and replace the current file with the patched one. I will in any case send a PM to shhnedo and ask him about this. Thank you for solving my problem  :)

scarface

Well, good for you if it's working. I guess your computer is pretty old to run windows xp.
This error was quite common formerly. As far as Shhnedo is concerned, I don't know what became of him.
The forum lost many experienced users and the registrations have been closed for months. In this context, only a few regular users are still writing on the forum. At least there are no spammers.
Some users blamed me for deleting a few messages. I'm sure they wouldn't have deleted some obsolete messages themselves, it's too tedious. They must be resting on their laurels, but I'm sure some of them are still reading the forum.

Do you know where I can find the original XP Pro Operating System that Maher uploaded to the Internet in June 2011, that is shown on the 1st page of this thread?

Thank you.

Thank you.
Apparently, you can still get it with this link: http://uploaded.net/file/eoe25jxz/X32.040215.rar
But it is the latest version. I don't see the point in getting the June 2011 edition that would be outdated. If this is what you need, you can try to send him a pm. Note that if you have something important to tell him, or if you want to make a donation, you can also try to contact humbert. I think I still have Maher's phone number if it is urgent.

Janet

Thank you for your help. I prefer to get the June 2011 edition because I have used it and it is very clean and a pleasure to use. Also, it is simple enough to be personalized the way I like. Unfortunately, I have lost that CD.

The question of being outdated does not arise. Contrary to what is generally believed, Microsoft automatic update servers for XP are very much active. I know this because I have updated two re-installations of XP within the last month.

The moment I opened 'Microsoft Update' from my new installation, it did a quick scan and offered all updates missing from my installation, up to April 2014. That's not all. When I did the 'POS Ready' trick, it gave me all updates right up to August 2019! This is in spite of Microsoft's announcement at the beginning of this year, that there will be no more POS Ready updates after April 2019. This is amazing but that's how it is.

In fact, the update servers were never shut down, even though every one was saying they were off the air. But I never expected them to be still working after the announcement from MS at the beginning of this year, that they will no longer be available after April. So it was a big surprise to me when, a minute after I opened my new installation, the "Updates are available" icon appeared magically in my XP task bar.

In any case, I have no problem with any old XP. Even if MS servers fail me, I have carefully saved and stored all updates that were ever published for XP.

I would very much like to have Mr. Maher's phone number. Perhaps you can send me a PM.

Kind regards.

Well, here it is. I will delete this message later: +970 599 230 437.
Bear in mind that Maher is in palestine. He might not be waiting for your call. If I were you I would send a private message.
What's more, I don't see the point in asking him a old version of windows xp since a new one is available on the forum.
In all likelihood, he doesn't have this version any longer.

scarface

And if you are interested in xp, note that I did a version based on the latest version here: http://www.nomaher.com/forum/index.php?topic=3350.msg34758#msg34758
I never used this version, but it should work.

I was watching this clip, and I remembered Janet was desperately looking for help. Have you been able to talk to Maher? Or did you simply download the latest version of xp available in the first message?
