I opened this topic to ask my friend Topdog some stuff about rugby, but as I told him in my other post, the World Cup is 6 months away. Those of us who love football can post here too.

@topdog - Here every now and then they televise a rugby match. It's a very interesting sport, but there are a few things I'm confused about. For starters:

1) when the ball goes "out of bounds" (outside the field), why sometimes a player will immediately throw it in, but other times they climb a guy on their shoulders to deflect an incoming throw?

2) when the guys gets tackled and a ruck happens, why do 3 or 4 guys stand beside the guy who just got tackled, apparently without doing anything?

3) what is meant by "mark", and what's the 22 meter line all about?

That's all for now.

Football or soccer ^^?

I mean SOCCER. It's called "football" everywhere except in the USA and maybe a few other places. The funny part is that "soccer" is not americanism - the word was invented by a British coach in 1894 as a short word for "Association Football". I think that was either his league or what they called it.
