Which version of Windows am I running?

Hit Windows+Break or click Start, then right-click on My Computer and select Properties. (Windows XP users)
If runing Vista, 7, or 8, the System Properties pane will appear.

What version of Windows am I running??? You're kidding, right? Someone who downloads Windows or any OS and doesn't know the OS he's running belongs only on Facebook, certainly not on this forum. They would not even know what an upgrade is.

Not to be arrogant, just stating a fact.

LOL - Well I can install an OS, but I'll be d***ed if I can work out Facebook. (self-censored)

More seriously, everyone has to start somewhere, until I started coming here less then a year ago, I couldn't even burn an iso.
(Actually I didn't know what an iso was).

PS So thanks for continuing my education folks  ;)

Oh, I totally agree! Do you think you were bad? I was worse than you. Once I was actually afraid of computers and swore I'd never touch one. I got into all this quite by accident. Details upon request...

What I said in my post was the fact that someone who doesn't even know what OS he's running wouldn't bother to upgrade his system to Windows 7 or any other OS. It's a little bit like someone who spends big money for a smartphone, and when you ask him what OS it's got, he'll answer "you mean there's an operating system in this thing"?

I think it's a lighter version of Windows 7.
It doesn't contain all features of the normal Windows 7.. I had the embedded version of XP before and it allowed me to specify which components to install and which not. But even when installing all the components, it lacks some features which exist in the normal XP.

I didn't try this one but I tell you the case in XP and I think the 7 release will be the same.

Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Embedded XP etc are meant for engineers/designers and suchlike working up "embedded" OS's for hardware. E.g. cash registers, automotive's, I think some early netbooks or anything that requires a light NT OS.

Not my area but I know one of my son's works with them. (MS Embedded OS's)
