My cat was put to sleep I think in 2011. She was almost if not more than 20 years old.
The cat was a black-white "farmer cat".
The cat on the picture is almost an exact copy, except my cat was skinny :)

I dont have any pets at the moment sadly. My parents does not allow me, they say that I'm going to move out soon, and I might not be able to bring the pet with me.
Another reason is that because we have a normal house, and a summerhouse, and a caravan and that my parents travel a lot and I might be in school, I can't properly take care of an animal if something happens. Right now, my older brother is away on military practice (volunteer, because he's scared of Russia) My mom and dad is on Öland(our summerhouse) and relax. Myself I decided to stay home to do homework and driving practice(Soon about to get my license, I'm in the final steps)

Later on (not right now) I'm going to start a pet topic and see what happens.

I too lost a dog I loved very much. One day when I was out he broke the screen on the window. He was run over by a car and killed. I cried for 2 days.

Tell your brother the chances of Russia invading Sweden are about as great as Russia invading Mars. Be that as it may, I'm sure the Swedish military has great benefit for its volunteers.

I can imagine how close you were with your dog, a lot of people cant let their dogs go at all here.
Personally, I'm very scared of dogs.. All sizes. There is a selective few that after several days of being near-by I can touch. If a dog walks by, I push myself up to the wall, and get a lesser panic attack, I can't move away.. I hate it, and each time if a longer time has passed the "acceptance" of the dog has gone by so I'm scared again.
What kind of dog was it?? Also, if you create a new board, or topic whatever it was.. wouldn't it be fun with a topic just for fun images, and animals and such that are just plain cute?
This is the kind of volunteer work that gets no pay. :) He had paid military service last year.

Scarface or Vasudev (or Maher) - I'd do this myself the problem is I'm not familiar with the procedure and I'll probably screw it up. Kindly do me a favor. Please create a new topic called "Pets We Love" then move any and all posts that talk about pets to that new topic. When you've done that, pls explain what you did so I can do it next time.

@Shadow - I'm very familiar with phobias and panic attacks. I have phobias myself. This one is particularly bad because dog immediately sense fear and tend to react defensively. Is there any way you can slowly desensitize yourself, beginning by petting small dogs? I know it's not easy, trust me.

The dog that died was a large maltese, probably a havanese. A few days later we adopted a maltese puppy who is still with us today. 2½ years ago we got a yorkie-maltese female. The 2 had puppies back in October and now we've got 5 dogs (the parents and 3 kids). We're seeing if we can either sell one or even give them away, so far no takers.

I killed off the other 'Pets We Love' topic to prevent duplication. What I'd like to know is how you managed to either rename this one or create a new one and move the posts to it. I saw no way to do it. Please enlighten me.

I managed to basically talk my dad into getting a new pet. Does anyone know a pet that doesnt require a lot of attention(dog) and isn't as ... "suicidal" as cats..? Cats often get injured by cars or get beaten up by animals and magpies..
I really want a cat though! Specifically, norwegian forest cat.. Pic related.

@Shadow - All pets (except rocks :) ) need care. As I'm sure you know, cats need food, water, kitty litter and of course medical care (e.g., vaccinations).
