Title: Cloning win 8.1 hdd image - need help
Post by: aa1234779 on December 19, 2013, 05:03 AM
Which program should I use if I want to clone my windows 8.1 installation with the many apps I installed?
The OS creates 2 partitions when installing so whatever the program that clones them will require certain steps when restoring..

Your question was good indeed, because when using dism under winpe, this is the drive d: that is used.
Or there is an easier solution with this: http://www.farstone.com/partner/driveclone-sr.htm

There are many apps that do this. I like to use Acronis. When I back up I create a full image of the drive and, if necessary, restore the whole thing after first doing a full wipe on the existing one.

My C:/ drive isn't partitioned because I disabled GPT on installation, but as far as I know it'll work anyway,
