I opened this site in Firefox's Cool Preview add-on. Is this designed exactly for posting small messages such as serial numbers, or what exacly?

I think so YES
But you can post anything which has a plain text :)
Now the members which post ads here will rush there, but the plain text is not available until you have the link to what you have posted. ;)
So ads members get BUSTED  ;D ;D ;D

Now I'm totally lost. As I see it, an ad is simply an ad no matter what form it takes. What difference is there between typing up a promotion for goods or services or posting a link for the same thing?

I meant you have to have a link to what you have typed there on Pastebin

So basically everything you post on there you've got to provide a link to back up what you said, or what?

You have to provide a link to whom you want to give the pasted data
If you have yourself an account then you needn't have to have the links, there is a list to what all you have posted. :) just as you login
