@iih -> You just love to copy and paste stuff, don't you? Also, everything you said everyone here already knows about. Did you even bother to read my post where I talked about the arrangement made with the UK?

@elcapo -> Congratulations - you are the only person I've seen that could not get Maher's copy to work. Thousands of people have downloaded it both from Maher's links and uploaded to torrent sites, and only you couldn't get it to work. Let's see - all these people are wrong and you're right, correct? BTW, when I ran XP I too had a problem when I enabled AHCI. I did a little searching and found a registry hack that fixed the problem. It all boils down to the simple fact that XP is too old.

Legacy hardware belongs in a recycle bin where any plastics or other materials and be turned into dust and re-used. Throw that legacy garbage away!.

Yaahoooo..... It's a good news for someone like me who like and still use XP. England and Nertherland have already signed a continueing support Windows Xp with Microsoft until 2015 or 2016. That means we still have updates through this signature  ;D if Maherz can update it. Not everyone can afford to buy a new computer to run Windows 8.1, which needs 2gb to run casual programs, and 4gb or 8gb,16gb to run the lastest games. I only run Xp to ues Office 2003,2010 and play online games, which only require no more 4gb Ram, only core i3 and i5 Ivybridge with GTX 650,660, you can play these online games smoothly. I only mean you can play in 2014 and 2015, and then we will update system to Windows 7, which is more easier to use and need less Ram than Windows 8/8.1  8)

Nobody said you can't install windows XP anymore... You just won't get updates through Windows Updates.

Don't forget than in computing all hardware has a limited lifetime before it becomes useless. If all you do is check email, surf the net and write letters then you're good to go. Other than that, forget it, there's nothing "faithful" about it.  In this business mandatory upgrades are a fact of life.

will download one last  April Update of Maherz XP  and keep

Here's a suggestion. If you're stuck with an old system and you don't do much more than web surfing or checking email, you can stay safe by running a distro of Linux. For a primitive system probably 32bit Lubuntu is your best bet.

For those of you who are still having a hard time with the inevitability of change in the computer industry, I remember that back in 1991 or 1992 a 33-mHz Intel 80386 computer with a whopping 4 megs of memory, a 40 MB hard drive and 13" CRT monitor, would set you back $10,000 (that's ten thousand US dollars). Also, I said mHz and MB, not Ghz or GB

Simply put, a decent computer doesn't require that much money to build. Here in my country, for example, a Haswell Celeron 2.7GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB SATAIII, 300W PSU and a good enough case cost roughly 190-200 euros. It's not a mindblowing amount of cash when you consider the long term usage of this PC(skype/browsing/music/movies/office/simple games),

Which is your country? For that matter, what's your city?

Anyway, you're correct - that's roughly the price here in America too. All the more reason to chastize those people who claim to be stuck with an old computer and as such would prefer to stick with XP until the day they die - and possibly even pass that computer on to their great-grandchildren with XP still on it. Since these ancient computer are useless for doing anything that requires a reasonable amount of processing power (e.g., play games other than Solitaire), then my suggestion is to move to Linux. Surfing the web, checking email and writing a letter to your sweetheart can be done in Linux easily, and you won't even need antimalware programs to further hog your limited resources. 32bit Lubuntu will probably work on 20 year-old machines.
