Coup d'etat? I don't think it'll go that far. Trump will rant and rave until people get tired of listening to him. For a coup to happen you need to control of the military. It's no secret the country's top generals and admirals don't like him. Even it they did, rest assured the American people are not going to just sit back and do nothing, especially when Biden clearly won the popular vote.
It was unlikely. But there is an ongoing coup d'état in the United States.

The problem here is that Trump is a delusional tryant who will not accept defeat under any circumstances. He is so crazy he actually believes he won! Fortunately there is absolutely NO WAY he can stage any kind of coup d'état. Every court has denied his attempt to steal the election. This despite the fact that many of the judges who were involved were appointed by him. Every day that passes more and more Republicans in Congress openly challenge Trump's assertions. The military doesn't like him and will not get involved. His last gasp is an old law that allows Congress to question the electoral college's votes. In order for this to work he needs a majority in BOTH houses of Congress - something he will NOT get. The House has a Democrat majority, and more and more Republicans in the senate will not support him, not to even mention Senate Democrats. Don't worry, this election is a done deal and nothing will change the outcome.

Here are a few photos of the failed putsch of the supporters of Trump.
The next step is probably a military coup and the implementation of the martial law in the US.

Forget it! Trump has committed political suicide. Many of his allies in Congress have rebelled and voted against him. Some 3 members of his cabinet has resigned, with probably more resignations coming. There is talk of invoking the 25th Amendment, which provides for forcible removal of the president if the vice-president and cabinet believe he is unfit for office. The Speaker of the House is threatening impeachment if the vice-president doesn't act. The only reason this isn't moving faster is because there are just 12 days in his tenure as of this writing.

There were warnings that there could be violence on Jan 6th (the day the Senate ratifies the Electoral College vote). The Washington police was undermanned and not prepared. The Pentagon didn't react sooner due to confusion. Trump never called and told them to interfere as the president must do. It was Pence and some senators who finally convinced the generals to send in 1200 soldiers who eventually crushed the putsch.

The Republican party is now essentially split in two: The Republicans and the ReTrumplicans. Good news for Democrats and other progressives. Indeed, the Democrats owe Trump a debt of gratitude.

Today, I'm going to talk about Pakistan.

A breakdown in Pakistan's national power grid plunged the country of 212 million people into darkness on Saturday night, officials said.
This is Pakistan's most widespread power shutdown in the country since 2015.

Power cuts are frequent in Pakistan, which has faced a chronic energy crisis for years and has a complex and dilapidated distribution system. Many of its approximately 210 million inhabitants go without power for long hours every day, and the phenomenon worsens during the heat of summer.

A general view shows Pakistan's capital Islamabad during a power blackout early on January 10, 2021.
