How much does your XP-32 find? Is it too far off the mark? Always keep in mind that no OS will see every bit of your installed memory. The reason is simply the fact that your motherboard uses some system memory to load some of its firmware into it so the OS can talk to it. Also, I firmly believe XP-64 is a waste. Who even writes drivers for it? If possible, go with 7.

I had installed Win 7 32xt of 4 GB and I only read 2.63GB. I did not know what the problem is why I do not read all 4GB. I informed the net and had to change the operating system on x64 and now I read 3.83 GB.
And now i want test windows xp 64x.

Thank you BLADESHARK for your reply !

You might have not inserted the RAM Properly. Believe me Windows 7 32 bits supports RAM upto 4GB.

Theodore - concerning your RAM, never mind what Windows reports -- go into your BIOS and check the memory it's seeing and how it's distributed. I'm thinking [for example] that if you have 4 1-GB DIMM's in there, your board might say it sees only 3, which would now make perfect sense as to what Windows is seeing for the reasons I explained. Assuming this is indeed the case, simple trial and error will tell you which DIMM is either not properly installed or just plain needs to be replaced.

I guess he will be back to see this :-\

I believe we can all understand your English, which prompts the question.. where are you from? It might be in your profile but I haven't looked at it just yet.

As for checking your laptop's memory, it's pretty much a no brainer. If you don't have the manual, you can easily download a PDF copy from the manufacturer's web site. First start the computer, go into the BIOS and see what the BIOS says. It should report either 2 Gb modules or a single 4 Gb module and, most importantly, it should read the total amount of memory it can see. If it's not 4 Gb, then proceed to what I told you before. The manual will tell you where the memory chips are located (usually on the bottom) and how to remove and put them back. As a precaution, touch something metallic to get rid of any possible static electricity on your body, which these chips simply hate.

It may sound a little hard for you, but be advised that doing things for yourself is the only way to learn and to lose your fear of screwing around with the computer when that needs to be done.
