have anyone tried win 8 firewall control by sphinx soft .It is very good & no compatibility issues with any AV's incl. MSE

Honestly I don't know why anyone would want to use anything other than the Windows firewall that came bundled with W8. It works great and I for one have never had an issue with it. Two thing that Microsoft did get right are the antivirus and the firewall.

I"m integrate programs into windows setup. Not all of progs mentioned here, btw.

Myself, I heavily dislike the Windows firewall and have it disabled and use Comodo Firewall instead. It is easier to use, and fits my needs more. It is harder to do specific things with the windows firewall. As I use schedules much, and it is more customize able in general.
And another thing, as I dislike windows in general I try to avoid their product to a certain extent. Also trust issues with their teamwork with for example USA's gov.
Although I don't use windows 8 I wouldn't use the built in firewall, I'd use a third party one.
I've had some really annoying things that been bugging me when playing LAN games with friends/filehosting on a local network. They have problems connecting, random disconnects. Fixed by turning off firewall.

What apps do you run or what situations do you encounter that make the Windows firewall useless for you? I'm asking because I'm using it forever and I've never had a problem. I can even use it to block internet access to certain apps to keep them from calling home.

Also, not to defend the US government, but let's be real. It is impossible for the NSA to monitor every internet connection and wiretap everybody. If that's the case then how is it that 2 clowns were able to successfully plant a bomb at the Boston Marathon despite the massive surveillance you hear about on the news? Also, do you think they even care about what you and I do with our computers? Believe me, they know all about piracy, pr0n and everything else, but they don't care - it's not their problem. I should also mention that, or so I've heard, accessing TPB is difficult from the UK and other European countries. Despite the fact that American companies do most of the complaining, here in America there are NO internet restrictions at all - I can download all I want from TPB and others, and I can read Wikileaks all day long, I can download pr0n until I turn blue, etc. No police has ever knocked on my door.

If you find a substitute for Windows, let me know. So far I see now way to get away from it. At least for me, Linux is nice to learn and play around with, but it can never be a substitute for Windows. I'm sure you know why.

I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to spionage as I know how stupidly easy it is. If I have your skypename I have your full location within minutes, if you're not using a proxy to set up the account as your old ip's are traceable too, but still after that with Mac address tracing and such it is still possible to find out your real IP after many hours/days search. Therefor many people don't bother to do it(trace proxies).
I hope you have set under your skype option tabs tab to only set up direct connection with people who is in your contact list.
I can confirm that it is hard in the UK, I supplied a UK friend with a Swedish proxy for a while. (dold.se) Even though I had little/no use of it, I was payed back after.
Also, if anyone knows about holes in the windows firewall it must be the Gov! So just to confuse them a little bit I'm using an alternative.

Shadow, are you override today our scarface in an area of paranoia? He's screwed out our brains with his econoic collapse, now you start with government surveillance?  ;D
Be realist, humbert is right.
1) You're in North Europe - where's you and where's USA government.
2) If government want to get you, it get you with easy. Just "voronok" (black party wan  ;D) at night, gun to your face, bracelets on hands and yo're done. As said respectable comrade Stalin: "no man - no problem".
3) Your IP isn't interesting to them. Your teenager sins as well. If they want to get you, they didn't need any this strange computer stuff. Because they have your address, and address of your school, where in a box lays a file with information about you, and they have yor parents, who have also a lot of documents, work, driving licenses, credit history and so on...
4) If they need to get your info from your PC, they get it. BTW, any good system administrator can do the same. There is a lot of ways, and firewall can't help you.

Firewall is a way to protect from viruses - it prevent them to spread over your LAN. For good IT specialist it isn't a barrier.

Im not paranoiac, I dont think Im spied. If You think That what im talking about is nonsense, You Can disagree, a lot of your posts showed You were skeptical. Now if You understand how the world we live Is fragile and depends on energy, this theory makes some sense. You see, Hitler was probably not a good man but in the first war he understood That human life has not a lot of value and on this point I agree with him. Today we Can still spark wars to grasp commodities, the one million people dead in irak were not important compared to the oil underground.

I'm so skeptical because you say an obvious things like a panic warnings without good argumentation.
And. btw, first sign of paranoia is nerves of patient and repudiation of his illness.

I understand all of this as well as you. And - at what time human life priced much? There wasn't such epoch.
I can't understand why this irritates you so much.
And, btw, Hitler wasn't the first - the first was Sun-Tzu, four thousand years earlier.

Any chance the pros refine a list of programs to go with fresh installations of windows?
