A piece of software that can be useful to share stuff.
http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/download.html

Here is an old modified version...Zion++ FUCHSIA (modified and compiled by myself)
Keep in mind that Zion FUCHSIA is for testing purposes only, or for use on your own hub, because it could get you banned...
If you want to go to a hub, use the regular version instead.
link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4NsBhRUPihXUnRBYUhtVFNwZkk

A few things have been modified...
-fixed tag
-fake slots
-fake search slots (it's the number of slots showed in the search bar, if you use fake slots, it should be the same).

-emulates dc++0.694 completely (but the tag displays Z++ FUCHSIA):
   no away status
   deletion of getcid support
   no testsur response

-possibility to see ip and flags in search
-possibility to ignore operators
-possibility to display a custom connection
-added op commands when connected as user (can check other clients)
-modification of icons (strong dc++)
-limiter not displayed
-8 segments by default in queue
-multiple instances are possible
-the source code was cleaned - exe reduced from 3.15mb to 2.9mb
-the hublist url has been updated.

By ticking the box and providing the connection of your choice in the blank field (whatever you want actually), it will override the default connection and other users will see it.

New Update:
The annoying system log doesnt show anymore at startup.
There is now a working hublist url.
The client profiles have been updated for detection of clients (but it's still outdated).

Do you have any hubs to suggest?
I've had this for quite a while but never really got to use it as I havn't found any good hubs.

No I dont use it any longer. But There Is quite a lot of swedish hubs. I personnaly know poy (formerly zouzou) on the hub DcDev, who Is now a main developper of the original dc++. In fact I cant use it with hotspots, and dc++ Is not compatible with tor. Perhaps I Will release a mod for That I began to work on it.

Can't you use a proxy? It hss proxy support I think

scarface

dc++ is compatible with regular socks5, not tor, it doesnt support .onion hostnames.

The last dc++ src are harder to compile. I see poy has been delighted with the new c++0x norm.
After compiling the last src with msvc successfully, I have a problem when launching the exe with openssl, though all seems included, applink.c is also present.
I will ask the specialists about it. Perhaps poy, harkaz (or jastreb) will be useful.
Note I dont compile it dc++ to use it, just modify it.
And dont forget: if you download here, make a donation for maher.

For the developpers, here is a code source to control dc++ via a webpage and see what's running - you have to know the external ip of the PC running dc++, a code is needed too. it was originally implemented in zoudc++ but I prefer not to give the code source, nor the exe, as the client is outdated and completely hacked. I think its a unique feature for a p2p client.

In this topic I have presented dc++ and it's a good alternative for those who want to share some stuff or make a community around sharing.
The links I provided are dead, but it's not important, they were hacked versions, if you don't want to be banned, use the regular dc++ version.

Here is a link for ynhub if you want to host a hub.
Thus, you can be the administrator of your own hub.

Ps: I'm sure a Hub "nomaher" with the regular visitors of the forum, would be famous. I would be curious to see the shares of humbert or Ahmad.
In fact, if you want to know all the truth, I've been operator on a hub about ten years ago (this is when I met poy, a parisian who is now one of the main developer of dc++), and then I've had my own hub, which never had a lot of success, perhaps 30 or 40 users at most. But I stopped using it years ago, so don't try to find me anywhere.
If you want to meet those who have made dc++, connect to the dcdev hub, though I'm not sure it's still connected:  adcs://hub.dcbase.org:16591

Scarface - pardon my ignorance but I'm assuming dc++ is a programming language like BASIC, Perl or C++, right? You write a program in that language and compile it to an exe, right?

I never learned programming, not because I can't understand the code but because I have no imagination or originality. What would I even write?

scarface

dc++ is compilled in c++ (I knew how to compile old versions, and I tried the last one, It gave me an error with openssl. This feature was not implemented in the old versions).
As it's difficult to write a complete program, it's much easier to modify a program. That's what I did when I made zion++fushia (the link for the source code is dead, you can ask it if you want it).
Well, unfortunately I would say that the golden age of dc++ is far. I've used it a long time ago, before bit torrent was spreadwide. Today there are fewer hubs than 10 years ago.
