Hey Dkc, I'm using the same core 2 duo, 4gigs of ram which is 5 y.o. it can run  windows 7, 8.1 and also 10.
I have 2 machines with the same setup, I forgot to add. One with 8gb ram, one with 4. One is running windows Server 2008, one is runing Elementary OS. But previously one was used as my streaming computer that I did Live art on.

@gujjar -> You're confused. Many times on the forum I've said that a very valid excuse for keeping XP is because you're stuck with an old computer and an upgrade is financially impossible. DkC concluded - and many of us agreed - that (s)he was dealing with a hardware problem, in this case an old board that was probably defective. Based on that assumption I suggested a hardware upgrade was the best thing to do, all the while emphasizing that, while certainly getting a speed demon is nice, in his case it might not really be necessary.

@DkC - Windows 8.1 has virtually no learning curve. The start screen is the best thing MS ever came out with and infinitely easier to use than the old start menu. All you do is tap the Windows Key once and click a tile. I also strongly agree with Shadow - 8.1 is leaner and meaner than 7 any day of the week. I should know, I ran both for years. Also, I virtually guarantee you'll have no hardware incompatibility issues with your new system on 8.1, even if it's not a speed demon.

@DkC - Did you ever get the old clunker to work on XP?

@Humbert: Now I agree with you, ITS lot easier to swipe through installed programs after using a Lumia.

Hi Maher

I have tried your copy of Windows. It works perfectly well. Just install a fresh copy with Avast Free AV (My favourite Antivirus program) but it is a bit slow. I have many friends still using Windows XP although its support has ended (Not really).

I am downloading your Windows 7 ultimate.

Thanks..... :)

Do you mean a Windows phone? I've heard terrible reviews and so far I've yet to see anybody who prefers one over Android or Apple.

Well Humbert, for a die-hard nokia s60/s40 user; Lumia is the top dog and in all aspects Android or iOS wins over Windows Phone because of large user base & apps. Battery life is worse after 8.1 denim update but under light usage I get 4 days of battery life on single charge; Whilst extreme gfx intensive game it lasts for mere 6-7hrs.

The reason I love Nokia is their cameras are usually in a whole different class. It's like Wow, just wow. Appwise, it's kinda horrible, and functionwise .. dont know never really used one, a guy in my class is a diehard nokiafan and he keeps going on how its all so good, but every good function feels like they're limited to the US or UK or something..
*Cough* Voice control *Cough*

As I see it, if Lumias have only one advantage over the other guys (the camera) AND you're an avid photographer, you're probably better off getting an Android or iOS phone and buying a digital camera separately.

Do you have a cold or something?

All of us know, voice interface is not even close to being perfected. The only way to really get it right is to create a computer almost as fast as a human brain. I'd say that's 20 years away.
