Hey,

I'd like to ask if it would be possible to update WMP to version 11 in the next release of this Windows XP.

Thanks.

Anyone?

Hi everyone,
I have a very dumb and stupid question. I've been using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, and I also installed it on my parent's PC. Unfortunately, my mother hated Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 because it was very slow and IE9 was always crashing for her because she is impatient when it comes to waiting for the computer. I don't blame her! My parents have a Pentium 3 @ 1GHz with 512Mb of memory, and they are using their old Gateway monitor with it along with the keyboard and mouse.

So, I came back to Maher's Digital World to see if he had the latest version of Windows XP SP3 available, so I downloaded it last night, I started to install it after dinner, and when I was finished, XP was completely installed (I did a fresh install). The odd part was that it didn't ask for a Product code or to be activated. Now my question is, is it okay to put ON Automatic updates, and will MS see XP as activated and Genuine? I'm guessing that the answer will be YES, but I don't want to take any chances with my parent's computer, they are in their seventies and do not like the computer, but my mother uses it for her online banking every week, and my father attempts to use it on facebook and have bragging rights when he goes to the gym every week (He has to get out and socialize or he'll drive my mother crazy. :) ).

I thank you in advance, and I would appreciate all feedback.    8)

THANK YOU!

Hello :)

As you guessed.. YES.. The key is already entered during Fresh install, and now the windows is genuine and can run automatic updates without any problems.

But I noticed something strange..
Installing Windows 7 to a PC with the specifications you mentioned is completely unfair.. i.e. You're just hurting it when installing 7  ;D
The best thing is that you came back to XP for this PC.
Windows 7 32-bits needs at least 1GB RAM.
My PC is Pentium 4 with 768MB RAM and 2.6GHz CPU and still can't run 7 well.. It's very slow because it needs more RAM.

Nice to have you here with us.  :D
Good luck. :)

Hello :)

This problem was discussed many times before and it may result from any cause..
For example my PC can't install XP from USB and it gives me some error like that.
But I see that you have a new PC, so it can do it.

Try these steps:
- Enter your BIOS and if the option regarding drivers is set to AHCI.. Change it to IDE.
- Make sure that you have downloaded the ISO file completely.
- Use WinToFlash to prepare the USB flash drive for installing XP.

I hope this helps.
Good luck. ;)

OK, thanks.
May I ask why? :-\

I think Maher doesn't include WMP because it's not that popular in use.. i.e. Only a few people use it as media player because .. in my opinion, it's very bad media player.
Regarding IE8, many people need it in their Windows, so Maher includes IE8 updated.

But this is my thinking.
Finally, it's up to Maher.

Thanks, but I disagree.
Many people I know don't even now about the existence of other media players else besides WMP.
Anyway, is that a big work for Maher to do?
I uses this version of WMP a lot and updating WMP to 11 everytime is kinda pain in the neck.
If you'll think of it, this version won't be 100% updated if WMP 11 is not installed ;)

@ Maher
If it'd be possible, I'd be glad to have another version of your Windows XP with WMP11 included.

Thanks again.
