I agree with the video. My OnePlus 8 phone supports 5G and I have a 5G provider. At the top of the phone it's even marked 5G when connected. Despite this I'm experiencing spotty service and speeds that are often closer to 3G or less. I've complained to the providers quite a few times, but all complaints fall on deaf ears.

Maybe some of you have read the novella The Metamorphosis, written by Franz Kafka. This novella tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa who wakes one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect. And maybe you have heard the term Kafkaesque. But what does it mean?

One thing I found hard to believe is that all W11 restrictions can easily be disabled with a simple registry hack. I seriously doubt M$ will not disable the use of these hacks whenever the official release is out.

A video about San Antonio in Texas

As you guys know, I live in San Antonio. There are several aspects of this video that are either grossly exaggerated or totally wrong. Let's take a look.

CRIME: While maybe statistically there may be more crime in other American cities than here, I assure you San Antonio is safe. The simple fact that some cities have a lower index of crime does not mean the city is dangerous. I have never been a victim of a crime nor do I know anyone who has. Nobody has ever given me so much as a dirty look. There have been time I've parked in [for example] a shopping center and forgot to lock the car. When I return it's there, totally untouched. By comparison, Miami is far LESS safe than San Antonio. There are neighborhoods that simply being there in dangerous. Not here.

RELIGION: What the video says is totally false. Religious fanatics are everywhere and certainly San Antonio is no exception, but these people are not even close to being the majority. Here there are 4 mosques and goodness knows how many synagogues and Catholic churches. There are strip clubs, bars, and many other "sinful" places. Also, everybody respects each other. It is extremely rare for one of these people to proselytize their beliefs with the exception of these stupid Jehovah's Witnesses who knock on your door. I agree with Hitler's treatment of Jehovah's Witnesses: they should be worked to death, gassed with Zyklon-B and burned.

SPANISH: This is another fabrication. Here English is by far the default language and is spoken everywhere. Of course there are Spanish speakers too, but nowhere near as many as this guy says. In fact, there are many Mexicans living here who don't even speak Spanish. Usually they're second or third generation immigrants who are too stupid and too lazy to learn. This is not the case in Miami. Miami was invaded by Cuban immigrants in 1960's. Subsequently came some Colombians followed by a huge amount of Nicaraguans escaping the Sandinista government. More recently the city has been invaded by rich Venezuelans escaping Chavez and later Maduro. As you know, Spanish is the language of all these nationalities, which is why it has become the lingua franca in Miami.

FIRE ANTS: I live in an area that has many trees and gardens. There are squrrels, deer, skunks, but I have yet to see a fire ant. Maybe the idiot who put up the video can tell me where they are so I can see them for myself. By comparison Miami is full of those red ants that bite you if you put your foot on their nest.

ALLERGIES: Exaggerated. I've never had an allergic reaction in my life, but I've yet to see another San Antonio resident complaining of allergies due to the city's flora. Neither are pharmacies overstocked with anti-allergy medicine.

HEAT: Grossly exaggerated. Of course it's hot here during the summer, but not much more than in the southern part of the rest of the country with the exception of cities near the sea. This summer has been unusually cool, but normally it's about 37° to 39° at mid day. Compare this to Phoenix (AZ) where 40° to 43° is normal. I saw on TV last month that the temp in Phoenix reached 47° during a heat wave. This is unheard of in San Antonio.

Finally, did you read the comments from posters at the end of the video. Almost everybody criticizes the author for putting out false or misleading information.

I think this video offers constructive criticism of the city of San Antonio, even if one may dislike it.
Crime: You may have been annoyed by the following statement: "you have a 1 in 17 chance of being involved in a crime." In your neighborhood it's probably not true, but this explains why there are practically 3 million Americans in jail. This is roughly the population of Palestine.
Allergies: I have allergies (orchard grass and timothy grass) and I can confirm some places are better.
Heat: If the video was about Moscow, the columnist would have said it is too cold.

I am never annoyed by constructive criticism. What I don't like is that people criticize with even bothering to check the facts. If you read the comments underneath the video you'll see I'm not the only one saying this guy is mostly wrong.

With respect to the crime rate, I just checked and noticed that Houston, Dallas, and Chicago (to name 3 cities) have a higher crime rate than San Antonio. Comparing San Antonio to the national average is an unfair comparison. Why? This is a very large country, both in territory and in population. The country is littered with thousand of towns and small cities. In many places people more or less know one another. Under these circumstances committing a crime becomes much more difficult. Criminals prefer large cities where it's easier. A fair comparison would include only large to medium cities.

I should mention that there were a few things where the guy on the video is right. Indeed here salaries are generally lower because the cost of living is less. Indeed the city taxes us an addtional 2% over that of the state of Texas. Indeed the sale of tobacco products to anyone under 21 is not permitted. I fail to see why he would mention this as a disadvantage. The percentage of people who smoke has dropped tremendously in the last 50 years. Tobacco companies are cutting production and desperately looking for markets elsewhere. Smoking restrictions are everywhere and nobody objects -- on the contrary, most people agree. A quick example: does anybody on this forum smoke? I'd say no.

Before I forget: the guy mentioned rodeos in this town. What?? Where?? There are NO rodeos anywhere in the city nor have I seen any kind of advertizement for a rodeo anywhere near here. This guy apparently believes all Texans are just horses, cowboy hats and cattle. I'm not particularly fond of Texans since many of them (not all) are arrogant and believe they're the best thing in the world. But facts are facts.

but this explains why there are practically 3 million Americans in jail.
This is due to (1) persecution of drug-related and other relatively minor offenses which often turn law-abiding citizens into criminals, and (2) the rise of the private prison industry. Private prisons make their money when their jails are full, and often hire lobbyists to make sure laws remain the way they are. I few years ago in the news it was discovered that the reason a judge was issuing maximum sentences to defendants is because the private prisons gave him a fat commission for all stiff sentences. The judge lost his law license and ended up in jail, hopefully a private prison.

Maybe you have heard of the American series Melrose Place, Silk stalkings and Baywatch (known in French as “alerte à Malibu”).
No doubt humbert, Maher and aa1234779 were fans of these series in the early 90’s.
Maybe the video below will remind you of the series Melrose place. I was watching this series when it debuted in France in 1995.
