Because of this conversation I decided to give a try to Waterfox.
Perhaps I should use Waterfox instead of Firefox, and keep Java 64bit version only...

By the way, sorry for the off-topic but is Waterfox really faster than Firefox?
Is it worth trying?

Absolutely YES! I've been running it for several months and it works like a champ. I have almost 50 Firefox plugins running on Waterfox and they run seamlessly. It's very fast and highly dependable. Fuj explained this is because they write it specifically for Windows, whereas regular Firefox is mostly for Linux and ported to Windows. Details are available at their web site.

Absolutely YES!
I replaced Firefox with Waterfox to my 64 bit machines and everything is fine.
All plugins are working with no problem.

- Today I will remove the 32bit java from all 64bit machines.

For the story:
I have 3 machines with Win 7x64 (Waterfox now)
and 2 machines with Win7x32 (keep Firefox)

Thanks for the advices guys...

Excellent choice! I don't know about Java but on Flash, the same one that's available everywhere works seamlessly with Waterfox. No need to chase down a 64bit version. Incidentally I opened a tab to their web site and found out it has upgraded to 39.

What sites do you visit and/or what programs do you run that require Java to be installed? Also, how safe it Java?

Doesn't speedtest.net use Flash? I had no idea Libreoffice needed Java. I installed it once and it didn't ask for Java.

For testing pings java is used.

For you Java lovers, here's a nice little article I found on Webuser magazine.

Usually JRE is set to activate on my permission on firefox and also set to very high security options in JRE. LO needs jre for some functions to work. I hope JRE to disappear soon, better late than never.
