Quote from: Vasudev on October 21, 2024, 04:17 PMI think OOSP 10 and other utilities except WinaeroTweaker are causing graphical and other glitches. If you're using Firewall blocking rules to restrict MSFT spying it is simply causing more issues with 23H2 and later version. I had to rollback or remove them which were working fine with Windows 11 22H2.

I might add I tried to install the same 24H2 on the lappie. Everything went fine until 92% then the whole thing crashed and I got the hated "Undoing Changes" prompt. I'm thinking the copy I used was buggy.

The issues you had: can you briefly describe them? I'm thinking they might not be the ones I had when installing 23H2 or 24H2. Mine were (1) Windows File Explorer could not open drives (e.g., double-click on C: and nothing happens); (2) Cmd and Powershell apps don't open or take forever to to so (emulators such as ConEmu did work); (3) Winkey+. for clipboard history and emojis not working, and some others. Windows Update DID work after having issues on 22H2. If these issues don't match yours, I don't think changing firewall settings will work.

Quote from: Vasudev on October 21, 2024, 04:17 PMWebview is integrated deep into Windows 11 and causing blank apps/entries in Settings app and File Explorer.

Yes, but in your opinion is it safe to remove? I've seen quite a few Webview removers on Github and other sites, so I was asking what you think.

At this point I would suggest using stock 23H2 ISO from MSFT to do in-place upgrade and before that revert OOSP settings to defaults. It worked for me when I initially bought my thinkpad and upgraded clean installed OS which got corrupted and sfc did not find any corruptions but there was.
Webview2 is integrated deeply into Windows 11 and later versions so I'd skip removal of webview and remove edge browser.

So basically download a copy of 23H2 from M$ (i.e., not your copy) and make another attempt to upgrade? Are you implying there might be something wrong with your copy?

What do you mean by OOSP and what setting should I bring back to default before I make another attempt?

Nothing wrong with the copy, sometimes MSFT decides the custom modified ISO as faulty and rollback the changes. On the same computer I had to do a clean install with the same custom ISO and everything went fine.
OOSP: O&O ShutUp 10 or 11. It really worked for me after resetting everything to stock default settings.

You can try 24H2 ISO with latest update which fixes a lot of issues if your hardware isn't listed in upgrade block-list.

Today, a new version of windows 11 (24h2 with November updates) is available here: https://mega.nz/folder/hFMVTIBL#OP7Z1vb95a0AIFl5-_UctQ
Note that edge was not removed (the OS was becoming unstable). Note that explorer patcher is not present in this version (and yet Windows 10 ribbon ui was restored).
I guess humbert, Vasudev and harkaz will show interest in this version.

Thanks. Let me give this thing a shot and see if it will update. First I'll make a backup, then I'll reset everything to default with O&O Shutup as per Vasudev. It just might work. We shall see.

@scarface I avoid detest Windows 11. Using Server 2022 and LTSB 2021 still today.
I will give it a test though.

Thanks harkaz. It's nice to see you again here, after all this time.
And as far as your update pack is concerned, I'm not using Windows 7 any longer...
What do you think of this computer: https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-Katana-17-B13V-laptop-review-Nvidia-GeForce-RTX-4060-makes-its-debut.696624.0.html

It didn't work. It freezes up at 46% and after a long while it says "installation failed". There's gotta be something wrong with my system somewhere. I'm on 2H22 and can't go higher no matter what I do. I think the day this version no longer works I'm going to have to do a complete wipe and reformat. This is detestable. Takes forever to manually put everything back. I wonder if there's a better way.

@scarface I haven't tested the ISO yet, I will update this post as soon as I do.
EDIT: Just tested ISO in a VM, fails while copying files at 10%.
I would not throw 2100 bucks on that laptop.
A laptop should be viewed as an investment. Any investment should be able to make you a profit margin. This laptop will most likely be dead in 2-3 years due to MSI poor thermals and QA issues. Abysmal display for the price tag and you get only 16 GB (!) of RAM? No SD card reader? No Thunderbolt? USB2 - WHAT?
