Do you use any add-on that makes Firefox create MHT files and read them ?
Because I can't see in my Firefox 12 any option to save page as MHT file, and when I try to open MHT file with Firefox, it brings up the download dialogue to download the file not read it.
It doesn't matter, as I open it with IE or Word, BUT I just want to know how to do that with Firefox.
Thanks buddy. :) :D

any freeware HTML reader can read it (there are plenty out there).

Total Commander's html-reading plugin, and it works great and takes up almost no resources.
I agree :D

My Firefox 12 can't create .MHT format, or I can't see the required command.
If it's from another command, tell me.

Go into Firefox's add-on page and install and add-on called "UnMHT". Not only will it most probably resolve any MHT issues you might be having, but it'll allow you to save entire web pages or just your selections into and mht file. One thing I also love about MHT's is that they keep the link, meaning that even viewing it with Total Commander's HTML viewer (which reads MHT perfectly), I click on the link and up comes FF to display it. This is what I did with that article I uploaded -- I highlighted with the mouse only the parts I wanted to save, then right click anywhere and click "Save Selection as MHT". I asks me what directory I want it in, and then it does it's job.
I assume the lack of that add-on might be the reason your FF isn't reading MHT's. I went to a saved MHT file on my HD and simply double-clicked on it -- Firefox promptly picked it up and displayed it. There is even a Firefox icon before all my MHT files, meaning that FF is their default program.

C'mon, Ahmad, what's with you :P? Given all the great add-ons FF has to offer, how is it you've got just one? Let me give you some of my all time favorites, although I have more than just these installed: Better Privacy, Cool Previews, Do Not Track Plus, Flagfox, FastestFox, InstantFox, Live Reload, QuickFox Notes, Privacy Choice TrackerBlocker, and if you use the status bar on the bottom, Status-4-Evar is indispensable. I'm naming just a few, there are many more you'll find by simply browsing. Also, if you don't want Personas or Personas Rotator to make FF more beautiful, then at least pick up one theme and use it to supplant the ugly garbage Mozilla uses as default. I have one that that goes from orange to yellow to green with a pretty flower on top (or some strange thing), and the status bar on the bottom goes slowly from lime green to yellow, and contrasts great with the text on there.
Just to into addons.mozilla. org, look at the screenshots and read the reviews. You don't even have to log in or sign up unless you want to post a review. I recommend these highly. Oh, and NO, they will NOT eat up resources, slow down Firefox, or cause problems in any way -- I've been using them forever, I should know.
@ humbert. :)
I'm really not interested in searching add-ons now [Not so important for me].
BUT of course, I'll refer to you when need add-on doing something.

It's awesome! When you look for the proper filters to put on it, check and see if there are any that blocks ads targeted to the Indian market. I just use the primary 4, and it's pretty much all I need. Incidentally, my cousin (another hard core computer nerd) says she uses NoScript instead of ABP because it's far safer. With it she says she can block not just ads, but also any script that might be a little bizarre, and, of course, allow harmless scripts you need such as to view a clip on YouTube.
Hmmm.. why I am even telling you this when our great friend the Big Chief makes a few pennies from this?
Yo Ahmad.. I invite you one of these days to simply browse FF's many extensions. I betcha you'll find something you never new you needed.

Ahmad, somehow I have a hard time believing you don't have 5-10 minutes to simply take a look at what's there. I do hope you've downloaded and installed UnMHT - not so much to read my attachment, but to make it easier to save pages or, better yet, parts of pages without saving the whole thing. Tell you what - after getting UnMHT, simply either go into "add-ons" from the FF menu or type "about:addons" in any tab. Click at the very top left where it says "Get Add-ons" -- on the right bottom you'll see some popular personas. Simply hover your mouse over them and the browser promptly changes accordingly. Mouse over another and it changes again, and so on and on. When you see one you like, just click on it and FF saves and applies it. Right now I just did this in another tab just to see how it's done to explain it to you, and I just happened to mouse over a nice red one I really liked, so I kept it. I still have the one with flowers should I ever want to switch back. See for yourself. Oh, no more excuses, please. :) ;)

I'm so sorry, I forgot to tell you that I've installed UnMHT add-on, tried its features and read your attachment just after you told me. Sorry, and BTW, nice article.
Thanks for explaining how to install add-on in detail... I've already tried some add-ons, before.
But you know, the slow internet may be the main reason for not exploring now in anything ... When I click a simple add-on, it takes me about 2 minutes to install it ... this makes me bored, unless I want to explore .. It doesn't matter then.
:) :D

It's not like you have to install the add-ons all at once - nobody can do that. I believe I asked you to pick out a nice these to replace that ugly one FF comes with. I'm willing to bet there's a nice green one with the star & crescent, which is excellent for you. :)

Hey buddy.
I wanted you to know that I've tried some add-ons:
# hidemyass [you told me before] ... It's great & I kept it ... BTW, its site is what you told me about to surf anonymously, and it's with the same name.. right ?
# unmht ... Great & I kept it. To enable Firefox to save web page in MHT format.
# ie tab v2 ... Great & I kept it. This is to use IE engine inside Firefox because some sites need IE.
# SkipScreen ... If I'm right, it does nothing as you said before. So I removed it.
What I want also is to capture an image for the page and edit it ... I tried add-on called awesome Screenshot ... But, I ask you if you know another one better.
BTW, I've split our talk about add-ons to create this new topic.

Firefox is the fastest browser ...
I've compared between 3 different browsers ; Firefox, Google Chrome & Maxthon [A new browser said to be fast].
I setup the 3 browsers, cleared all history and cache and opened some sites containing flash and photos and calculated the time taken by each browser to fully open the web page ...
I found that Firefox is always the fastest knowing that I was trying on sites opened for the first time with history and cache cleared as you know opening cached sites is fast in every browser.
People with old PCs like myself may notice that Google Chrome is lighter than Firefox ... It opens immediately when clicking and it has a faster start up than Firefox, yet Firefox is still faster in browsing and takes less time to open web pages completely.
Also, I had a problem with Google Chrome opening YAHOO registration page, it doesn't open it correctly and I couldn't sign up for a new account on YAHOO for a relative of mine.
But with Firefox, I never found a problem like that, and the page opened correctly with it.
So, in my opinion, Firefox is the best browser ever, not mention its great collection of add-ons. :)

I have a problem with firefox(Only with this pc!) sometimes when i press a link it just opens a new tab, or loads the page half way, so i have to refresh it. Not a biggie but really annoying.. But what i love is that googles doesnt own it :D And a big issue for me playing games such as Runescape and Minecraft in browser is that it has no support for 64 bit :( (The games crashes and cant take full use of PC when its on 32 bit)
@ Shadow.97. :)
Hello buddy.
First, sorry I can't help you with games.
Regarding loading pages half way, I know it's annoying... I knew from the internet before that this problem is caused by incorrect values for some internet settings in your system, so if you use any program to optimize internet or you have changed in Firefox settings, you'd better reset it to the default and try again.
Really, I'm not sure but may be this is the cause for your case.
For me, I've used many programs to optimize my internet but without any difference but even sometimes, some pictures in the page were not loaded, so finally I decided to leave the default. At least these are the settings that the developers recommended for any PC and were tested on different conditions.

Ahmad: opening this topic is probably your wisest decision EVER! You are truly the ideal moderator for any site. I commend you!
As all of you can imagine, this will no doubt be my favorite topic! I've been a Firefox user forever, I know it's tricks and I absolutely love the fact that it's so configurable and has all those add-ons. It's literally a "pick your favorite bloat" browser. I wish all programs were like that.
Shadow: to cure your tab-opening problem forever, download an add-on called Tab Mix Plus. With this you can easily configure the opening of tabs to your liking. You're a smart guy and will easily figure it out, but feel free to ask me any questions if there's something you don't understand. Incidentally, I had been meaning to ask you - does the 97 in your name mean you were born in 1997?
Also, have you guys tried the cosmetic add-ons? Have you put lovely personas on your browser and/or have them change automatically every minute or so? Have you downloaded an cutie like Fabtabs to make them look like something you'd want your girlfriend to see? Hey, it's not just computer stuff at Mozilla.
Yo Ahmad - be advised Maxthon is nothing new, it is, in fact, older than sex between men and women :) (That's OLD!) It's based in the IE kernel and you could probably configure the IE add-on you have to open Maxthon instead of IE - I had it set that way once. I used Maxthon extensively until Firefox appeared on the scene. Since then I've never looked back.
BTW guys, tomorrow I have to go South of the Rio Grande river and will cross it back on the 12th. I must return that date because I have an important appointment on the 13th. I don't know if I'll have internet access just yet, but relax, I WILL be back. Given how Murphy's Law works, I'm thinking Homeland Security at the border might make me miss my appointment. Let's hope that doesn't happen. Regardless, crossing the border north (or from the 49th parallel going south) has become a nightmare.

Anyway, I never tried it but I heard that it's fast so I used it and Chrome to compare with Firefox just to see the faster. BUT, there is no comparing...
Firefox is the best and the fastest ever. This is my findings. May others differ with me.

I have never been a big fan of personalize thing (except maybe Winamp), but I had a look at FabTab. It looked so much fun that I have to try it out. :)
Then I would just like to ask about downloader add-ons in FF. I'm currently using DownThemAll ( http://www.downthemall.net/ ), and basically couldn't live without it. But, is there any others out there are even better? The only thing that I miss is that DTA has often trouble resuming broken downloads, and just restart them. So any advice about downloaders are appreciated.
Hey guys! Well, here I am in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico just north of Monterrey (see Google maps), where the wedding will be held. Here in my father in law's house there's internet - slow, but better than none at all. I'm always thinking of the fine group of friends I have here on the forum.
Hey Chief, check this out! Your ads here are in SPANISH! Way to go! That advertizing company is something else!
Bubster: Lots of guys here and in many places like IDM (Internet Download Manager). There are some minor details I don't like, but then again that's just me being neurotic. Why not give that a try? I like IDA (Internet Download Accelerator), but to make it work well I had to use the Flashgot add-on as an intermediary (no need for that in IDM). You might want to check those out. There are a bunch of others out there too.
Ahmad: Excuse me, but did you just say you didn't know that sex was older than the oldest pyramid in Egypt :)? Somehow I have a hard time believing that . :) ;) ;D BTW, as Bubster explained, Fabtabs is a cosmetic add-on. It makes your tabs look nice and beautiful. And of course, personas and personas rotator are something else also. All these do is make your FF look nice and pretty without slowing you down.
Shadow and everyone - another add-on to prevent confusion is Menu Editor. This allows you to take stuff you don't use off your menu. Believe me, if you use plenty of add-ons (as I do), this thing becomes essential.

Hey! To clarify - I was making a joke all along :). When I informed you that Maxthon wasn't new, I did it in a very facetious manner so we would all enjoy a laugh. :) ;) All I achieved was to create a misunderstanding.
I think it's important for all of us, myself included, to keep in mind that the form of communication we are using is very prone to misunderstandings. Humans communicate through body language first and spoken language second. Sadly we don't have that luxury. Also, remember that English is our link language. If there is anyone among us who can claim that Engish is their first language, would he (or she) raise his hand.
Concerning Maxthon, let me give you a tip. See if you can get yourself a copy of the classic version (1.69 I think). This first version is truly lean and mean, and was, in fact, the very first one to ever offer some sort of ad and popup blocking software. Sadly, Maxthon went the way of Nero and added an unbelievable amount of bloat to their browser, so as to make it unusable. This is precisely why I love Firefox -- it comes blank and gives you the opportunity to add whatever bloat you like and stay away from bloat you don't like.
BTW, I had no clue you got on the internet just a year ago. You've done unbelievably well and have surpassed the vast majority of the population in the knowledge of it. My congratulations. (DO take this seriiously) :)

To be precise, I have internet for 2 years + 2 months. But sometimes I can't notice, time going on [
I asked my brother about the exact period to tell you]. Plus I feel as if I'm still new, and I think 2 years are not enough to know enough about internet beginning from scratch. It's like an ocean !!

To be precise, I have internet for 2 years + 2 months. But sometimes I can't notice, time going on [I asked my brother about the exact period to tell you]. Plus I feel as if I'm still new, and I think 2 years are not enough to know enough about internet beginning from scratch. It's like an ocean !!
Hey sorry if i am hopping in a little bit. But i have been trying out Maxthon for about 2 weeks now, and i must say i think i will abandon FireFox. For these reasons; 1 Private browsing in different windows without having to close the other windows. And the ability to stream from Fear.FM directly to the nice sidebar to the left(really love it). And the clear layout. And, best of all The syncing to my phone/school pc!! Its also pretty fast on most of the sites :O. What i really hate with it(Maxthon)! On some pages like my schools website takes years and years and years to load! really slow.. and.. the top bar(where the tabs are) is hard to quick-grab and pull to other locations on the screen(you can change it but then the whole layout gets weird :( ) And also the thing i missed in FireFox, 64bit support :(
@ Shadow.97 :)
For me, other reasons not to use Maxthon is that I couldn't integrate IDM with it. Also, I need some important add-ons which I can't find with Maxthon.
Plus, Firefox is faster with my slow internet speed.
If I put the 3 browsers in order, then it'll be like this:
Firefox >> Chrome >> Maxthon
This is just my opinion. :D

Really, no. I didn't notice that.
Anyway, I won't use any browser other than Firefox.
I made a final decision.

I totally agree! If you feel the need, simply use that IE add-on for those sites that insist on it. You know something? It's been quite a while since I've run into any of those site.

Blade - what do these IE-loving sites offer that prompt you to visit them, unless they have some local information you need (e.g., when buses arrive, what's on TV etc)? When I ran into this situation in the past, I used Maxthon Classic 1.69 combined with one of the IEView add-ons, hopefully one that'll allow you to insert the path of the browser you want to use. IE View Lite did this just great, unfortunately it's not compatible with FF 14. Maybe one of the others will work.
Hey buddies. :)
For those IE based sites, I use IE Tab 2 add-on with Firefox 13.0.1 and it's really good. You can try it from Here (http://www.ietab.net/).

How exactly did you put down a URL and use the word "here" instead of the actual place to click? What I've been doing is clicking on the icon that says "URL" and there inserting the link to go to. What I'd like to know is how to use another word instead of the actual link. Enlighten me please.
@ humbert. :)
You could click "Modify" on my post and see its code ... It is like that:
[color=blue][u][url=http://www.ietab.net/]Here[/url][/u][/color]
When you click "Insert Hyperlink", you'll be shown this code:
[url][/url]
You enter any name you want between the 2 brackets, and the actual url is written after = in the first bracket.
Sorry for bad explanation. :-[
BTW, I knew this from an old post by Maher ... I clicked "Modify" and saw how it was written.

OK, I see what you've done. I copied and pasted that to a note program I have. Don't be ashamed about a "bad explanation", truly the only way to really understand what's happening is to see it as if in a picture. I don't see how to do it unless it's done manually - unless you know something I don't.
I'll say it in another way..
Suppose you want to make a link to "Google" for example but you want to hide the complete url and show a word instead like "Search" for example..
Then you'll have to click the button "Insert Hyperlink" from above or write it manually like that:
[url][/url]
Now you want to make a link for Google, then go to the first url brackets and write it like that:
[url=http://www.google.com/]
You've assigned a hyperlink, now you need to enter a name for it "Search" which you'll write in the middle between the 2 url brackets like that:
[url=http://www.google.com/]Search[/url]
It'll be like that: Search (http://www.google.com/).
After that you can underline the code and color it if you want to be like that: Search (http://www.google.com/)
Take care. :)

As I see it (and correct me if I'm wrong), if you simply write everything exactly the way it's written above in blue except click on "Insert Hyperlink" to avoid some typing, it'll work. What I'm not sure about is your use of
Code:Select

Everything is OK except for the Minus mark (-) at the beginning, so it should be like this:
[url=http://www.google.com/] Search[/url]
Regarding the code:select.. I use it from the # button from above to allow me to show you how exactly the code is written, because if I write the code in the normal script without assigning that this is a code, it'll appear in its final picture and I want to show you the actual code not its final picture.

Precisely the reason I used the - was to get around what you were just telling me, i.e., to prevent this thing from reading my post as code. Now that you explained about Code:Select, I've learned an important lesson. As I've said so often, there's not a time I turn this computer on that I don't learn something important. Thanks!
Anytime, dear. :)
Ahmad, when you get a chance do me a small favor. Open another tab and go into the add-ons manager, then do a search for a persona named 'First Sentence'. To find it, go to any add-on page and at the top, click 'Personas" then just search. It has something written in Arabic and i'm wondering what it says. I assume this is a phrase because as you read from right to left, not all the letters are connected, which tells me these are words. You don't have to install it, just highlight it so you can read it.
I don't know if you're aware of the fact that you can check out how a persona looks on your browser by just mousing over it. Firefox will become like that persona until you simply remove the mouse cursor, then it'll come back to how it was before. I don't know if in your case it might require the Personas Plus add-on. My Firefox doesn't have it and the personas still work. I recommend that you check out one called 'Electric Chaos'. This one is amazing! On the top right of Firefox there are lightning bolts flashing. These aren't just pictures of lightning - it actually flashes. i installed it immediately.

If you mean this one (
Here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/my-first-sentence/)), then you're right.. The sentence is in Arabic and it equals "
In The Name Of Allah".
It's the first verse in The Holy Qur'an, also, we say it before doing anything.
Thanks for the "
Electric Chaos" persona. It's awesome and I liked it. :)

That's exactly the one! Thanks for all that additional information you gave me about the phrase, as well as the translation.

As you know, there are tons and tons of personas on their site. This one is above them all! I've yet to see another where the things on it actually move or flash - most of them are pretty pictures of flowers and other stuff. I immediately installed Electric Chaos on my Firefox.
You're welcome buddy. :)
