Quote from: scarface on November 23, 2025, 11:17 PMTonight, I'm going to show you another good dish.
Look at the photo below.

Did you bake this yourself or did you buy it precooked? And, do you eat all this in one sitting?

Quote from: scarface on November 23, 2025, 11:17 PMThere is a cold spell here in Grenoble, with freezing temperature. I was afraid humbert might be cold in Texas, but it turns out it's 20 degrees in San Antonio.

Weren't the winter olympics held there some time back? AFAIK Grenoble is not in the French Alps, although there is some high ground east of there. I'm thinking that might have been the place. If you're going to have skiing competition and similar, you need high ground and plenty of snow.

And speaking of skiing, let me tell you a story. Some time back my lady and I traveled to Western Canada to visit the Canadian Rockies. Skiing looked easy, so I went to the top of a mountain to ski down. Before you know it I was skiing backwards at full speed without knowing any way to stop. Eventually I crashed, they sent a snowmobile to rescue me. That what happens when a tropical Cuban like me thinks skiing is easy. :)

It was 20° today (26/11/2-25), but in the next few days they're forecasting temps as low as -1°. Let's hope so.

Actually, it was industrial pizza, you may have noticed it. Since it was a frozen product, I put it in the oven to cook it. I only ate hale of the pizza and put the rest in the fridge for later. Since it was necessary to finish the red wine, I set out to round out the meal with a piece of camembert.
This "pizza chèvre" was bought in a supermarket known as Auchan.
In fact this kind of pizza is probably not the best dish for you guests, they could be disappointed. At intermarché, it's still possible to find the pizza brand  "Sole mio" that my father used to buy in the early 90's. This one is cheaper than the Sole mio pizzas, which  taste much better.

Actually, I heard of the Olympic games of Grenoble, but I just had to check when they took place since it was a long time ago. It was in 1968, 57 years ago. I guess you watched them on TV. In fact, there is a neighborhood that was built especially for the athletes known as "village olympique". The facilities were then converted into housing for the inhabitants of Grenoble. Nowadays, this is a rough neighborhood, which is part of the "quartier de la Villeneuve", plagued by drug trafficking. Since I live in the North of Grenoble, I rarely go to this place.
If you are interested in the Olympic games of Grenoble, you can see what remains of these games and the photos of various facilities in this article: https://www.lefigaro.fr/le-scan-sport/2018/02/06/27001-20180206ARTFIG00022-grenoble-1968-que-reste-t-il-des-sites-olympiques.php

Pizza like this is available just about anywhere. It's frozen and you just put it in the oven.

I was a child at the time and TV coverage was nowhere near what it today. My father spent a fortune buying a color TV that didn't work very well. Every 2-3 months we had to bring in a repairman to change out vacuum tubes that kept burning out all the time. As for the games themselves, looking at Google maps I'm seeing there are mountains to the east of there. I'm assuming the games were played there.

You're in the north of Grenoble. Since you've been on the forum how many times have you moved? I recall no less than 3 places (or cities). I assume you pay rent. Buying and selling all these places must be a major headache.

Tonight, I'm going to show you another good dish.
Look at the photo below.

This dish certainly looks like the previous one presented here, but this pizza is not common, it is known as "Pizza tartiflette".
I already presented the tartiflette dish a while ago, during the confinement due to the Covid, in this message: https://www.nomaher.com/forum/index.php?topic=3197.msg35578#msg35578
Actually, the tartiflette is a nourishing and comforting winter dish combining potatoes, bacon and Reblochon cheese.

I heard there is a cold spell in Texas, and it's probably not better in Sweden. If humbert and shadow.97 are confined to their house, it's certainly a good recipe idea.

You are correct. For the past few days here in San Antonio, morning temps have been about -5°C, rising to about 0°C during the day. Even today it only went to about 9°C during the day and back down to about 0°C tonight. A few days ago the car has a solid sheet of ice on the windshield. I had to use a clipboard (all I had) to partially remove it. There was even snow on the roof when I woke up in the morning. Highly unusual.

I wish it were always like this despite the amount of gas I'm burning to keep warm. What I don't like is temps of 37° to 40°C every day during the summer months.

As for the pizza you showed, you can put anything you want on a pizza. The number of flavors is infinite.
