The problem "Warning, you are using a fake serial..."
Here's how to deal with IDM's error messages. After you overwrite idman.exe with the cracked version, immediately enter the strange serial number. After you do that you're not totally in the clear - this thing calls home for upgrades and does so by itself, therefore bringing back the error message. This works:
1) after shutting down IDM, go into it's folder and delete IDMGrHlp.exe
2) rename idmBroker.exe to IDMGrHlp.exe
Do this every time you upgrade. I remember people once solved this problem by editing the hosts file, I just can't remember the commands. If anyone still has that info filed away somewhere, please post it.

I looked and looked and haven't found a way. What I normally do is go to one of many torrent sites and pick up the newer version. A bunch of different guys upload it the same day Tonec releases it.

I just read iih's post and I think it is pop-up update. I don't want to see it, bro.
And I tried to download IDM 6.21 but all failed, 2 host uploaded is so hard.
Belin, i hope that this will work for you...you can try this to see if it will work...block this to hosts file before installing Mr.Mahers IDM.

Thanks for the info, my dear. :) I've already pasted this into my hosts file. Let's see what happens when I upgrade IDM.
Help. I can't download IDM 6.21 from rapid and upload.
The hosts file data 'wallofasgard' uploaded didn't work. When I updated IDM it still gave me that song-and-dance about using a fake serial. Naturally the problem was solved by replacing the 2 .exe's with the altered ones.
:)
I am using those lines before when i am registering my IDM...but now it is not working. It also keeps on saying the Fake Serial Notification.
But i am still using those lines to prevent "New Version is Available Notification" pop up..and it seems to be working.
I am still using 6.20 build 5 now (Maher's IDM ) without pop ups about the new version of IDM which is 6.21 build 2. :)
Updated to version 6.21 Build 2..
I checked my hosts file and it was not marked with # - still, the patch works OK. I'd even say there's no need to alter the hosts file.
I got a problem, with IDM 6.2b2 lately, it's always with pop-ups message
fake serial, which one the better patch apllied to IDM 62b2. please info me.

I'm surprised nobody has answered by now. You have to patch the exe file (or overwrite with a patched version) first and either insert the fake key or (if included) double click the .reg file. If you already have a fake working key from a previous version, in all probability you can skip the 2nd step.
Always use the version you have to patch or overwrite. Forget what everyone else says. The version you have to patch is the only one that really works. Forget this business of looking for a cracked version that requires no patching, there's no such thing.

Dear Nomaher
I use your IDM and have a problem.
Everytime I log on Windows, IDM autorun and Window warning:
I uncheck in box "Always ask before run this file" but still see this warning in next time.
Can you help me for this?
check for other items in startup using msconfig & try safe mode, verify that file is virus-free. AFAIK IDM autorun wont ask for confirmation it just stays in tray.
Where did that app.exe file come from? I run IDM too and it doesn't exist on my drive. Do as Scarface said - make sure it's not set to start automatically and do a virus check.

When you install and updated copy of IDM, it will
always give you this song and dance about you having a fake serial number. Not to worry - simply overwrite the cracked
idman.exe file in the crack folder (plus any other) and you should be good to go. In all likelyhood you will not even need to enter a new serial number. Do that and get back to us if you have problems.

I'm having this problem too. It appears to be more serious than I first believed. I upgraded to version 6.23 Build 10 just right now and re-registered - didn't work. I added the list of IDM sites to the hosts file - didn't work either.
Rest assured these guys will find a solution. They always do. In the mean time keep in mind IDM doesn't shut down. Simply X out the nag and it'll continue working perfectly.

Be patient, you can bet borrowed money somebody will find a fix. In the mean time when the nag appears, simply hit the Esc key to make it go away - the download will proceed normally. To keep the nag from reappearing, go to your taskbar and close IDM out. It will reopen automatically on your next download.
of course somebody will find a fix :). IDM is somehow easy to crack. but the thing is, this is maher we're talking about. I always expect the best from him. with all due respect, I'm disappointed he didn't take time to double check the release.

My copy of IDM again started with this "fake serial number" nag. Do any of you guys have a working copy? If so would you be so kind as to shoot it to me. Email it to humb20@yahoo.com. If your ISP complains about big files, use the services of www.wetransfer.com (http://www.wetransfer.com)

Definitely yes. It's much faster when compared to FF's internal downloader. There is no IDM for Linux, which is where I learned about DTA.
Did you check your download speeds using DTA on windows 8.1? Just for the safe of info.

Internet Download Manager 6.23 Build 12 [May 20, 2015]
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/news.html
Be waiting from Sir Maher Updates
Updated to version 6.23 Build 12..
I have yet to experience any kind of boosts using this tool.
I did a quick benchmark comparing FF's own download tool, and the IDM.
IDM had a mixing 17-22MBytes/ps and FF had a stable 21-22MBytes/ps, then when the file was done by IDM it had to be put together..(?)
For what kinds of files is IDM faster? I did the benchmark with a .zip file (5gb)
An important reason I'm using IDM is that it picks up any sound or video media that's playing an a green dot pops up, prompting you to download it. On Youtube you have your choice of available resolutions. The downloader included in the browser doesn't do this. If everything you downloaded nowadays were just plain data files, then I agree no download manager would be needed.
My respect to Mr.Maher, your IDM "Number one" has been tested for several days. No serial Issue..
Thanks so much.. for your work.
I am looking forward the new version 6.23 Build 14. Thanks Maher
According to the news,Mr.Maher will be having a break for a couple of months.Don't worry,im sure that he will update the program when time is available. :) I am still using his last IDM release (version 6.23 build 12) with no problem at all.
@wallofasgard - You have the â™, under your name. I thought you were a girl. ♀
how can i download software from this web?
Quote from: Fuj on May 21, 2015, 08:34 PM
Download managers were must-have back in the dial-up days, mainly because they could resume broken downloads and browsers couldn't, which was a big deal because everything took a long time to download at 6 KB/s and failures happened a lot. They also utilized the connection quite better than browsers and downloaded faster; 1 KB/s increase made a big difference back then. Nowadays they are hardly indispensable software and they're nowhere nearly as popular but they can still be useful. I occasionally use FDM when I want to queue up downloads and start them later, or when downloading a large file that will take some time to complete so I can close FF if I need to free up resources.
Why didn't try DTA for FF?
to Leeyongwoo: check the first message for the links provided by Maher. Either download the piece of software with a free or a premium account. Be aware that downloading with a premium account will reward the uploader for his work.

Has anybody tested Eagleget (www.eagleget.com (http://www.eagleget.com)). I haven't but the reviews appear to be pretty good.
My opinion is "if you're happy with current download accelerator then why try another one?". For me, DTA works on multiple platforms such as Win, Linux or MAC OS, so DTA works.

This logic of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" (or similar) is seriously flawed. There's
always a better way, a better deal, a better program etc. - it's just a matter of finding it. Imagine back in the 19th century when Mr Karl Benz was working on inventing the car. I bet most people saw no reason to upgrade from the horse and buggy since it worked quite well.

Generally speaking that logic is somewhat true. If there's a problem in my PC, my dad always said "Problem arises because I installed too many programs" which is not always true.
Giveaway competition from HExus http://hexus.net/tech/features/systems/85196-win-asus-powered-skylake-gaming-rig-scan/ (http://hexus.net/tech/features/systems/85196-win-asus-powered-skylake-gaming-rig-scan/)
"Too many installed programs" has nothing to do with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? :) I hope you took the time to explain to the old man why his assumption is mistaken.
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a major impediment to progress. To give you one of many examples, I remember when MS introduced Windows 3.0 (the PC's first serious attempt at a GUI to rival the Mac), many people weren't interested. "DOS and it's command line work great, why would I ever want to upgrade?" they said.
@Humb:At tweaking.com Shane says "If Ain't broke, tweak it". Did you perform in-place upgrade to win 10 w/o losing files & w/o needing driver re-installs? I just slipstreamed a cumulative update to win 10(mind you, a single file of 325MB) increased the ISO size to 4.2GB, sounds incredible, right? I think MS has re-designed their search serviceto be like ubuntu that is, if you remove search package from ubuntu you can't use search at all.
I agree with Shane :).
I signed up for the free upgrade just like everyone else. Maher tipped me off a few days later with the link for the release version. After downloading, I simply mounted the ISO and ran the setup.exe program. It was seamless. All Windows 8.1 drivers that were already there worked perfectly. The only one I did have to download a W10 version was the one for NVidia. Maybe it's because I'm running 2 cards on SLI. The Windows 10 x64 ISO was 4GB in size, and the x86 version was 3GB.
I should mention my lady's desktop was upgraded to W10 through the online upgrade. There were no issues. This is an Asus Core i3 with 4GB RAM.
The search package can't be removed, but it can be disabled or configured to search only what you want it to search. It's been a while since I've run Ubuntu, not to even mention that's not my not my distro of choice.
For all of you upgrading to W10, don't be intimidated by what you hear. All this anti-privacy thing can be removed. Most of the Metro apps they include can be deleted, even those that offer no such option when right clicking. You can turn off the others you don't want.

Enlighten me, how search will work eventhough its disabled. For me, after shutting down search service, search no longer works.
Ubuntu isn't my choice of distro, either. Switched to Xubuntu and running strong for 2-3 years w/o clean install. I may have to perform a clean install when 16.04 is out.

I did this:
1) Winkey-Q brings up the search menu. Click on the gear and turn off Cortana and Internet Search.
2) Bring up the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Go to Computer Configuration â†' Administrative Templates â†' Windows Components â†' Search. Once there:
Allow Cortana â†' Disabled ; Do Not Allow Web Searches â†' Enabled ; Don't Search the Web or Display Web Results in Search â†' Enabled
I can still find local stuff (programs, settings etc.) by hitting Winkey-Q and typing what I want. These settings take MS Edge and Bing out of the picture.

It's been a while since I've played around with Linux. I really don't have much use for it except maybe playing around. Sadly there are many things I can't do with it. Another problem is that many Linux apps for everyday stuff don't work as well as their Windows counterparts.

About:
Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool to increase download speeds by up to 5 times, resume and schedule downloads. 1) Run idman623.exe to install the program.
2) Exit program from system tray.
3) Copy IDMan.exe from folder 'Patch' into the program folder in Program Files and confirm replacing.

Did you read the instructions?
ALL new copies of IDM will spit out that message when updated. The problem is you didn't complete the installation. Now copy the cracked
idman.exe file over the one already on there and "register" the program.

Yes I read the instructions & overwrite /replace the 'idman.exe' file but problem still occurs. Renamed "IDMGrHlp.exe" to "IDMGrHlp.exe.bak" solved the problem.

Actually, whenever you install or update IDM you have to patch idman.exe or replace it if the patched one is included. If you already have a fake S/N you're in business, if not there are tons out there. I don't have Maher's copy of IDM but I'll bet borrowed money it's got a fake serial or a registry patch.
I've never needed to rename "IDMGrHlp.exe". Even if you do, you must patch or replace idman.exe.

Ignore the fake serial number nag and apply the patch as soon as IDM exits.
Some (but not all) patches look for
idman.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager folder and won't work if it's not there. If that's the case simply create that folder and copy
idman.exe to it. Once it's patched you can move it back.
If that fails then head to one of the many torrent sites and grab a copy. In all probability only their patch would be needed.

hi,
I have a similar situation --> http://i.imgur.com/qD9M8h7.png (http://i.imgur.com/qD9M8h7.png), IDM is installed on
D:\ (partition D !)
so (by advice):
in Windows xp I have created
C: \ Program Files \ Internet Download Manager \ IDMan.exe <---
idman.exe is patched.
But it does not help, the message appears after every download...
any advice...?

Actually there was a problem with the patches for release 11. In my case it would bring up the fake serial prompt but would continue working anyway. If you're experiencing that problem check out the copy on
this site (http://crackingpatching.com). It installs a weird patch but gets rid of the problem.

I've played around with DTA on Firefox for Linux because there is no IDM for Linux. Unless I'm doing something wrong it's nowhere near as good as IDM.

Download speed depends on your ISP provided plans, right? For me, its constantly 1.1-1.3MB/s.

I got that URL from the text file that came with the IDM torrent I downloaded. I made the mistake of posting that site without realizing what scumbags these guys really are. I should have checked first. My apologies. :(
What does work is the patch that came with the torrent. It installs some sort of patch. This by itself is suspicious. Despite that I do know it works and that anti-malware programs report no anomalies. If you find another crack or patch that works and doesn't involve this sort of thing, please let us know.

OK, thanks for the info. It took me about 7 hours to remove all the garbage - stuff in the Task Scheduler, browser shortcuts all modified, stuff in AppData\Roaming and Program Files, plus all the Registry entries.
I did take the precaution of making a Restore Point but, surprise, surprise, it failed. They used to work on XP!
SFC\scannow reports all OK.
Before I try again I'll make a System Image. My bad for not doing that this time.

@humbert: Can you upload the patch to WeTransfer.com (preferably with MD5 or SHA hash)? Would be safer than relying on another site that may be untrustworthy.
Even though it expires after a short time, others can re-upload.
The patch created a new idman.exe file, which is supposed to overwrite the real one. The new file is clean - I uploaded it to Virustotal and there is not a single malware detection. It works great and there are no more "fake serial" annoyances.
The patch does install something, although I'm not sure exactly what. Uninstalling it will immediately bring back the fake serial annoyance even if you don't touch idman.exe. Of course I could send you my copy of that file, but according to my tests without the patch it's useless. I see no reason to be afraid of the patch. Neither Malwarebytes nor Windows Defender have brought up a red flag and my system runs perfectly. I'd love not having to install this patch, but so far it's the only thing that actually works.
Copies of this and all other copies of IDM can be found on your favorite torrent site.
If you're into testing stuff and/or want to play it real safe, I recommend installing VirtualBox and running an old copy of Windows under a virtual machine. You can safely test anything because the VM runs in a sandbox. If the VM gets destroyed by malware, no problem - simply restore the most recent snapshot and the test you conducted never happened. This is what I do and it's great, I'll walk you though it if you want.

With respect to Pascal, I went into NVidia's web site for some more information. I'm not too sure if this is an AI device or a new GPU architecture for the video cards. Regarding Ryzen, the tests and reviews out so far are giving it some very high marks. As I'm sure you know by now, Intel is fighting back with it Core i9 family of processors. Isn't competition a wonderful thing?
What will I get when my i7-4790K and GTX-970 gets old? It depends on what's on the market and, of course, how much I can afford. :)

I don't think your hardware is too old or ancient. I actually used the Nvidia codename for 10 series GPU. Stick with 4790K for now, because latest ones( dubbed the i9) are crippled by Intel since they're fighting with AMD. GTX 970 can do VR and run most demanding things. Hell, its better than my 980M. Did you know that you can replace your laptop and desktop with DTR laptop from Clevo?

Notice that in my post I said I'll see what's available
when it's time to update. It's not time yet, my hardware is still OK. Also, the notion that Intel would cripple the i9 makes no sense given that fact that now with the Ryzen they're facing the first real competitive threat in several years. You can bet borrowed money they'll do everything possible to stay at the top of the heap.
I was seeing the specs on the Clevo. Great machine if you've got a
minimum of $2255 to spare (that's the cheapest one). A top-of-the-line desktop you assemble yourself is probably 40% of that. Besides, remember that a laptop is still a laptop. In my opinion, portability is it's only advantage. I'd much prefer to sit at my comfortably at my desk in front of my 28" 4K monitor than carry this thing around.

yeah clevo's are expensive yet you get desktop CPU & GPU performance.
Personally I see no reason to use a laptop unless you absolutely need portability. Desktops are more convenient, comfortable to use, cheaper and much more configurable.
Returning to CPU's, I was reading that AMD is about to release the Ryzen 9 (a.k.a., Threadripper). This beast will have 16 cores, 32 threads. Clock speed is unknown at this time. It has 44 PCIe lanes, quad-channel RAM support on the X390 or X399 chipset, and runs on the SP3 socket with 4,094 pins. For starters this will go head to head against Intel's Core i7-6950X, and later against the i9. All the more reason Intel is in no position to cripple the i9.
Before I forget - the only way to take full advantage of these hi-end CPU's is to run Windows 10. MS has confirmed it will NOT write drivers and/or other software for these new CPU's for Windows 8.11 or older. So if you manage to get yourself one of these beasts, don't even dream of not upgrading to W10. I'm saying this because once a guy on our forum bought himself a top-of-the-line Core i7 with 16 GB of RAM - and installed XP on his new system because it's "what he knows" :o. He then complained his new system only reported 2.9 GB free RAM. Go figure!
@Humbert: I'm slowly transitioning myself into OC enthusiast league. Did break some records on HWBOT (v56m) with 6700 HQ CPU. With GTX 980 i need some tweaking and needs some years so that OS can take advantage of it.
If you see Intel Lineup core i9, there is less PCIe lanes, expensive and no backward compatibility for future Cannon Lake pin to pin compatibility. With SW tweaks Intel will pull ahead for sometime eventually people will buy AMD even if its 1-5 pts behind Intel in some benchmark, because in real world there is no difference at all. $5000 for Intel high end versus $3000 for AMD high end.
There is a hack that will deliver updates and microcode patches to new Intel Kaby and AMD Ryzen for w7 and 8.1.
@Vasu - If you're overclocking be sure to use the best cooler you can find. Personally I prefer not to overclock my system. It might produce instability and the extra CPU cycles don't make any difference with the apps I run.
Check out this article (http://www.pcworld.com/article/3199955/components-processors/intel-core-i9-prices-specs-release-date-features-faqs.html) concerning what is known about Intel's Core i9. The i9 uses 44 PCIe lanes just like the Ryzen 9. If you really want to take on AMD and remain at the top, forget about backward compatibility when it comes to sockets. More data needs more pins. Besides, if you can afford this thing, the very least of your worries should be backward compatibility. Notice that the release price is rumored to be $1,999 for the top-of-the-line Core i9 7980XE - nowhere near $5000, not even with a new mobo and 32 GB RAM. You can guarantee that the Ryzen 9 1998X will be at least 40% cheaper. Also, keep in mind these are release prices - you can bet borrowed money those prices will come down as time passes.

6700HQ is completely locked, no OC. I can OC GPU thanks to Prema Mod, just 10% increase in core clocks and 20% increase in memory clocks. A small margin of overclock. Even repasted several to get perfect temps in ambient temps >35C.

Thanks for the link. Also, intel tweaked the cpu to be little faster than AMD by 5%.

It this is what they're counting on they've got a serious problem. The release price for the top-of-the-line Core i9 is believed to be $1,999. Compare this with $850 for the high end Ryzen 9 Threadripper. Who in their right mind is going to pay that price difference for just 5%? In fact, you could even add an Nvidia GTX-1080Ti to the mix and you'd still be paying less!

Or even Vega card with 25 TFLOPS of FP16 and 11TFLOPs of FP32. And Ryzen just came out, so lot of optimisation are possible. I think Intel will move into different architecture altogether. Even AMD GloFo can compete with Intel with the help of Samsung Fab factories.
